Do any of you 2nd gens still have your template from installing a snorkel? Especially the one from cruiser outfitters. I called them up and they won't send/sell any separate from a kit.
If anyone has one, let me know. I'll buy / pay shipping if need be

That thread says ss135mod then mentions ss135hfd but if you look at one of the pics, the snorkel itself says ss135hf.

The SS135MOD is a Cruiser Outfitters exclusive part number, if anyone else is using it... they borrowed it from us (so let me know ;))

It simply refers to the fact we take a SS135HF/HFD kit and modify the contents (such as adding our exclusive template and intake tube) to the kit. We don't sell the template or the intake tube outside of the SS135MOD kit, we just are not set up to make them for anything other than our kits that we assemble in batches. We can't make copies, we can't trace them and we can't let you borrow one from our kits. They are included free of charge in our SS135MOD kits but to be clear, we don't offer them outside of the kit under any scenario. We have a vested interest in these kits and worked with Tacoma owners to bring these to market several years ago, we fully realize other shops sell the SS135 body snorkels but we are not in the business of providing tech support for the incomplete kits they send out. Likewise we cannot offer tech support over the phone or email for snorkel installations using the SS135 kits not purchased through us. I love talking shop and we pride ourselves in making sure our customers get taken care of both before and after the sale, but we are extremely busy and it isn't fair to our customers or employees to spend time discussing the parts you purchased elsewhere, even if they tell you to call us. :D

    Hope that clears things up.

All right. Another quick question to those with snorkels. Do any of you still have your template? Especially if you bought from the guys at Cruiseroutfitters. I'm having a really hard time trying to talk myself into believing I have the ability to install this thing right without a good template

I'll definitely agree it's BS. I asked someone that had one of their templates (not giving out names) and he said the "template was hand drawn with sharpie lol. i'm pretty sure they just have some kid sitting there tracing a template with a marker."
They said they've changed to having them punched out though... but either way... BS IMHO

So now they have some kid with a sharpie and a hole punch? I'll bet he got a $0.05/hr raise for adding the hole punch

    Cheap... Cheap... Sure :p
And really? That's just stupid then. I guess I will be doing this without a template... Then I'll make a master template and give them out :p

    I'm sorry to hear that.

    A. In the four+ times you called, the answer was the same, we don't make extras. We make the exact number when a big batch of snorkels comes in (we order them in the dozen plus quantities because it is such a pain to prep them all) and then we do all the prep work on the kits, make the templates which are hand drawn from a master stencil and then cut out. We then package them in the boxes with the intake tubes and seal them up for shipping where they get put up on the pallet racking until an order comes in, they get pulled and we slap a label on them. I feel we politely (each of your calls) told you that we can't pull one off the shelf, remove the template and be left with an incomplete product until we are ready for another batch which could be 4-6 months?

    B. I never told you we have them punched. We did look into that 4-5 years ago but there wasn't going to be nearly enough volume. We have been very clear about that on forums and with customers in the past. Neither here nor there, the template we send out works just fine regardless of being stamped or an art's/craft's product for my shipping guys. ;)

    C. I don't see how it is BS that we are not in the business of supporting products other companies sell? The template is the reason we sell the kit, we took the time and incurred the cost to develop it and we offer the template and intake tube at no additional cost over the snorkel price. The snorkel can absolutely be installed without our template and has dozens of times, we know other shops are selling the SS135HF/HFD's and we know they send people to our website for the step by step instruction... and that is what it is... but we don't have to be labeled as un-supportive or BS for not providing product support for that product. Safari Snorkel themselves pulled all of their install instructions off the web because they were being pilfered by knock-off snorkels, should they be providing tech and product support for others? We've been in the off-road community for 20+ years and are thankful to have such great relationships with our customers. We do our best to run a fair business, support our products before and after the sale and make sure our customers get taken care of.

No raise ;) Again, we don't charge our customers a penny for the template and don't plan to...

Please do, that would be a great resource for the community.

Don't worry about it... I'm thinking I'm just going to take off my free-handed snorkel to make a template and send them to anyone who wants it for only the postage price.

Well said, and I know you are carrying Safari's parts and it is somewhat out of your hands. For what it's worth, he didn't give you a bad review, nor talk down on your company, he was just asking the TW members for a template because it was too difficult for you to supply him one.
