Putting in OT like crazy, I am hoping to have a rear bumper and skids soon working tomorrow also.

Okay. so I gave up on trying to get it in any further! This install was a pain in the ass - and I'm blaming most of it in part to the c-clip. That bastard did not want to give, or go back in, at first. I took the c-clip off and made it narrower by squeezing it together and pushing it back on. Sliding the cv shaft back in was not hard at all. And it stays in place.

I took it for a spin and everything was good - I have to wait for it to get cold to find out for sure as it was really prevalent once it got below 30deg. Tomorrow night/Monday morning will be the true test. Glad everything worked out for you Billy - today was the day to do it with it being so warm. I would have hated to do it in Feb like David!

 

Rob I used the axel as a slide hammer to reinstall

 

I saw one earlier that had 22" chrome rims on it. Looks silly to me.

 

I might be next with a EGCS bushing install. I thought I had a little vib/noise from it before, over the last couple weeks its gotten more noticeable. Hopefully it can wait til spring. I really don't want to do it mid winter

 

Is this ECGS spacer thing for the front diff?

 

Yea, it's replaces the cv needle bearing that gets noisy and causes vibs

It feels like you are on a small rumble strip or you have very agressive tires on. If you feel it and then engage 4wd the vibe goes away

Not sure if 4runners have the same problem with the bearing that tacomas do

 

When you slide under ours you can move the drivers side axel at the inner cv joint up and down a lot. The bushing has tighter tolerances and eliminates the movement. It is also alittle longer to help support it

 

I don't have that problem but I need to replace both my driver and passenger CV axles because they both puked
