I want to replace my 05 grill with a 2011 grill, but would like to keep my color matched surround from my 05. My question is, can I just remove the surround and swap it with the newer grill? If so, how difficult is it to put back on?

New color matched grille is only about $200 from Camelback.
Keep in mind that the cheaper ebay grilles may not be compatible with your factory surround.

Thanks for the heads up. It's a factory 2011 grill with a chrome surround so I think I should be ok. Just don't want to go breaking any tabs and not be able to get the surround re-attached.

Do be careful. There may not be enough left on the tabs to melt and securely seal.
When I did my Satoshi, I removed the painted surround to protect it while working on the inner.
I reassembled mine with regular plumbing ABS cement.

The grille is ABS, and fiberglass, polyester, and epoxy do not securely bond to it. The only way to securely bond it is with heat or a solvent-based adhesive.

Gray plumbing ABS cement worked wonders on mine. It's been rock solid for over 25,000 miles.

So you didn't melt the tabs back on to secure it? You just laid the cement on and it was able to fit back on pretty snug?

There wasn't enough left of most of the tabs to remelt.
Not all of them were melted from the factory, and some were bent over and not melted solidly, but probably half of them were sitting flush in the slots when I reassembled it, so I used the cement on all of the tabs, allowing it to run down along the tabs that were flush.
