I understand the confusion - spacer lifts are junk because they lift the suspension up keeping the same range of travel up and down. With the suspension 2.5-3" higher and the same range of up travel the shocks bottom out before the factory bump stops are hit - in effect the shocks become the bump stops. Shock absorbers were never designed to take that kind of abuse and will get trashed pretty quickly from taking even moderate hard bumps w/ a spacer lift.

What I'm talking about are the much smaller trim spacers. People use them all the time to fine tune their lifts, level their suspension to get ride of "Taco Lean" etc. A 1/2" spacer won't prevent your factory bump stops from contacting before you bottom out your shocks. Suspension/shock integrity is preserved.

    Regards,

    David

You may need a carrier bearing drop kit.

Don't spend 30$ on the diff drop. It will not do anything to help your cv axels. It only rotates the differential.

The same shit everyone else has.
Id recommend a progressive add a leaf. I went with 5100s on my truck and a wheelers 3 leaf progressive add a leaf in the rear and love it. Its a mild lift that rides better than the stock Bilsteins

I am now seriously thinking about getting an ICON Stage 2 lift because of Demello's 20% off Special. Are these ICON C/O really a night and day difference as far as on road handling compared to the bilstein 5100's??? i ask because i do mostly on road since it is my DD and dont want an overkill suspension set up.

Too Many Options and only one tacoma!!!!!

The icons can be valved specifically for your truck., where the eibach/ 5100 setup is really meant for a modified armored truck. The high spring rate and stiff valving may be too harsh for some, especially with no additional weight (bumpers, skids etc). If you have the additional weight that is where the high pressure monotube and stiff coils will shine and ride nicely. That being said, with the icons you can tailor the spring rate and shock valving to your specific requirements, and if you do that it's almost guaranteed to ride "better". One other thing to consider, peoples definition of a nice ride differs.

So what your saying is when I order the icons I should ask if they can be tuned for the softest ride possible?

If that's what you want i suppose so. I would talk to them and tell them what you want. Not sure if Demello can tune the shocks there or not though. I would check with them. If they don't someone like DSM can. Though the way they come pre set seems to satisfy most people.

The Icon's out of the box come valved pretty good for ride and handling. The biggest difference over stock is you reduce nose dive when hard breaking and corner lean. I would describe it like going from a older Cadillac to a new BMW type ride. It just feels tight.

Unless you are running heavy equipment like a extra heavy front bumper and all metal winch with a heavy camper and full skids, then I'd maybe recommend the heavier coils.

We have even sold Icon coil overs to road racers who run stock height (meaning the turn them down) and the ride is still really good!.
