Contemplating my next mod and can't decide whether I want to add a sport hood, or the OEM TRD skid plate. I have a super white DCSB. I know it's my truck and it's what I want to do with it but just curious, which would you choose?

Neither one do anything besides looks, if you're gonna spend money on skids get some real skids that will actually protect the important (and expensive) parts of your truck.

    +1

The scoop is in a low pressure zone, so even if you open it up AND reroute the intake to it, it won't do anything.
The OEM skidplates are about as useful as a sheet of aluminum foil.

Yeah both would be just be for looks. May be a bit "poser" ish but I do like the look of both, just not sure which I want to go with. I don't off-road much so I'll add a sport hood if anything. Thanks for the input guys!

If you're going for looks then go for the hoodscoop, they look decent, and if you want you can put a small light bar in the scoop.

OP you know the big price difference between the two right? Honestly if you have to go for either just wait for a deal to pop up, if you plan on picking up new they'll both be pretty costly especially with the hood depending on which route you go.

Yeah I hear ya, I found a deal for a hood for $200 painted so I wanted to decide before I let that pass up.

    Gotta agree with Rich here...

Picking between either of the two options you gave, for me, is like choosing to eat chocolate covered cat shit or regular cat shit. They're both cat shit but, I guess I'd pick the chocolate covered cat shit. In this case the hood scoop has a chocolate cover...

haha looks like the best option may be neither. No fake scoop and no aluminum foil skid plate. Saves me $$$

No bro, do what you like. But, given the choice you offered that's my take...for me.

That is your best option. Hood scoop "looks" cool but doesn't have any use. The skid plate "looks" cool and has little use. I've got the skid plate on mine but it came with the truck. If I were into off roading that would be one of the first things I would replace. If I can bend it with my hand I doubt it is going to protect much.

Save your money for better mods imo.

Blacked out headlights, stickers, and plastic dipped trim all have the same value/benefits. That is: to look good. Get the hood if you want it. Your money dude.

    Personally?
I'd buy the skewp if you can get it for $200.

It's purely cosmetic, and some (depending on the color of the truck) complain about glare, but if you find you don't like it, there's always someone looking for skewp and you will be able to flip it in 10 minutes for $200 or even more.

    Some stuff...
    ^Agreed, and much cheaper.^

The hood does look good. I think the Sport looks better than the OR IMO, but the OR does tend to exhibit more of that "blue-collar" look. If given the choice, I'd spend a few dollars more and get a decent skid plate like Matt123's - they look good and werk good! :D
