That is a good question. I know that the 1st gens had the recall for frame rust but not sure about the 2nd gen frame stuff.

 

by the pic i cant tell... was it rust or a defect?

 

here is a thread on it, DMZ made some gussets but not sure if they still do though.... your a damn good welder sir so I'm sure if and when you find the time you can design and make a gusset better and probably cheaper than any shop out there

Anyone want to help me out and go to Upull to see if they can find a rear driveshaft PN78 for my taco? I might be headed in later this week to take the shorter drive shaft I got earlier back to try and find the right one.

No problem! Hope I didn't scare you with it but I was just thinking about it after you said you needed to talk to the shop that did the frame check. I wouldn't want you to go back blaming them for under quality work when/if your trucks motor mount was preparing to fail even before your accident. The accident may have just accelerated the failure but still worth looking into either way!

 

So far, between multiple sites, I've found about 20ish people that have had this happen and one that filed a lawsuit. It seems that between 06 and 07 the mounts were changed without any notice to consumers. So Toyota will be getting a call tomorrow and hopefully we will see something productive. But from what I've read most are having to get the problem fixed themselves and Toyota is not helping in any way.

 

The internal combustion engine has been around for more than 100 years. You'd think they'd have motor mounts figured out by now.

I'm all for more fuel efficiency but at some point, shaving weight to get it is going to cause a lot more problems.

 

Well just dropped the truck off at the shop and my guy there said that his contact at my insurance company might be up for fronting the bill to fix it, meaning a new frame. But we will see what happens. Should know something by noonish. The cost of the frame swap might be close to what we owe on the truck so they might salvage it. Hopefully not.

Yes the upper 3 bolt hats come with shocks.

 

So after Desert Rat installed my lift i noticed my cv boot is ripped. I know this sounds dumb, but that isn't something that should happen after a lift, right?

 

It's fairly common to be heavy handed when installing a lift and accidentally bust the boot. I used a tire plug to patch up mine and it's been holding well with minimal grease leaking out. I was like Dohh when I did it but life goes on. Good luck

Give them a call and at least ask. They might not have even noticed. However after my lift I'm on my 3rd boot now which just ripped recently so I have no idea. Normally it is not normal to rip a boot.

 

Hey guys, my mom just called me saying she found a broken leaf in one of the leaf packs on her 2007 TRD Sport 4x4.

She doesn't need any lift so I figured the cheapest option would be to find someone on here willing to sell their stock leafs (maybe one pack only?)

Any one got a set?

She lives in Corrales by the way for those of you that don't know I'm from NM.
