Heard a rattle from the rear when going over bumps, took a look and there it was dangling to the side. Anyways I was looking up info on it and was planning on doing it myself and found something called TSB? Can't find out what it means or much about it. Just thought I'd ask you guys if there was a slight chance of having Toyota cover this headache!

One on mine (also an 05) broke 2 weeks after I bought it this past July. I bought stock replacements from generalspringkc.com. Way cheaper than the dealer and even a local spring shop. It's been probably 5k and I've hauled a few very heavy loads since with no issues.

thanks for the heads up on the general spring and their prices. best I've seen yet. Hoping to find a replacement locally to put in the original spring pack, if not looks like i'll be getting a whole set from general spring. I will be doing both sides to keep things even..

Thanks sandman, that's really what got me thinking about it. when I was googling it before posting here I couldn't find anything on rebuilding the spring pack like I assumed I might have to do short of buying everything new. definitely one of the most helpful posts I've seen, going to be seeking out junkyards tomorrow to see what I can find with 2 3/8" springs :)

got myself a 6 leaf pack from a 90 3/4 ton chevy. long story short replaced the broken leaf and the same on other side, and replaced the one leaf with two off the chevy pack. new U bolts and we are riding nice. not to mention it feels good, although a waste im sure that I now have extra leafs in case anything happens down the road someday.

quick question... since it brought the back of the truck up, am I going to need anything to level out the drive shaft or is that fine? also ordered a 2" lift/leveling kit for front. in my limited searching I see the differential drop kits are useless on 2nd gen taco's?

Thanks for the help guys. I feel like y'all saved me a bunch of $$ not replacing the whole leaf pack. not to mention I like the lil lift it gave me and knowing it can hold more than a few hundred pounds

I lifted my truck approx 3" and don't have any vibes. If you do end up with vibes after the front and rear lift/level then I would make sure your u joints and carrier bearing are good/greased. After that I would look to make sure your driveshaft angles aren't too steep. Somewhere in came across a link explaining the angles very well... I'll find it... Carrier bearing drop kit would be good to have available to put in If you need to reangle.

I think I found the long thread you are referring to, I was just reading through it a little while ago. its pretty detailed and gets into drive shaft angles, pinion, etc.

yesterday I made some 1/4" thick CB drop out of some steel flat stock I had on hand and it got rid of 90% of the vibes. the only time I felt vibes before was low speed, maybe 5-10mph. I really have to pay close attention to notice anything now so i'll probably just make sure everything is well greased and up to snuff and run er as is. hoping to get that front lift in this weekend. thanks again for helping me out sandmand
