I got mine this past March. Pulled it home from Indiana. The week after I got home we got this.

About a half a mile from my camp. Same as most years. :)

Oh, you want to know geographically. :rimshot: Big Horns near Burgess Junction, WY. Right on the WY & MT line. I have a pretty good video of them. I was laying in the tall grass and they started walking towards me. A little shaky, but close up. I'll post it when I get home.

Great shots of the desert adventure. I want to explore the Old Dale Rd/ Eagle Mt area of Joshua Tree NP soon. Have you been to that part of the park?

^^^ Awesome photos, MT Girl! I envy your camping adventures. I've been to Yellowstone once and had a great time, even with the massive crowds. What is best time to visit without the crazy crowds?

Yes I have. Very rocky terrain. Lots of old relics from the mining era. Good area to explore on foot. A TW group was out there recently and it was recorded (pics) in this thread here.

I found a few other pics of them on google earth so I think I know the general area you were in. Seems like they hang out in the same territory most of the time, much like the moose around Grand Teton Park. My record there is 14 moose sightings in one day, think I can beat that?

I am putting this on my camping list for 2014. I love the mooses!!! :yay: And apparently they love me too...this guy was checking me out 2 weeks ago...

Thanks! I know I'm lucky to have access to the forests/parks like I do - its one of the main reasons I live here!
My favorite time in Yellowstone is opening weekend (mid April) and closing weekend (first of November). No crowds, no traffic, the animals are more active, still looks (and feels) a little wintry. But not a lot of in-park services (gift shops, restaurants, or campgrounds) are open. July is the worst time. June and August can be busy too although the last week in August/first week of September (minus labor day weekend) can be slow since that's when school starts for most kids and not a lot of families take vacations then. May and October can be great times to visit but the weather can be ify (and cold).
To give you an idea of what closing weekend is like this is the lot at Old Faithful last weekend. If you've been there in the summer you know what a zoo it can be!

We had a couple of nice cameras with us and took some 30-second exposure shots. It was the craziest things seeing the milky way with the naked eye.

Big Bend was epic for sure. It was my first time out there and 4 days was not close to enough. It feels like you left Texas completely. We would load up in the bed of my buddies Tacoma and drive around the park from about midnight to 3 AM and take photos of the sky, with a cooler of beer in the bed of the truck. wonderful.
