cheapest/best tires?!?!?!

Just got my '13 taco and am wondering what is the best quality or name of tire i can get for the cheapest out of pocket. I know the more i buy the better they are but im tight on cash, and like to go mudding here and there, play in the sand, climb small rocks. let me know!!

 

I have Cooper discoverer ATP's on mine. I paid around $630 and I like them. I'll be getting BFG's next though.

BFG Mud Terrain KM2



The Cooper ATP and my Hankook Dyanpro ATM are good all-terrain tires, but they aren't as good for mudding.

 

Goodyear Duratracs, BFG KM2's, Nitto Trail Grapplers general rule of thumb with tires= you get what you pay for

 

General Grabber AT2. Great tire, great value.

 

Telstar turbostar AT is made by Cooper and is almost identical to the discoverer at a slightly lower price with 50k mile warranty.

I put these on my wife's Kia Sorento 4x4, and have been nothing but impressed. We have 12k mi. on them right now and they still look new.

I've had them through water crossings, loose gravel, dirt, mud and as of this weekend, snow and ice. We got freezing rain in N. Texas this past Thursday night. Friday was mostly ice with some snow like powdery stuff on top with some slush in the later afternoon/early evening. It refroze Friday night and Saturday was a skating rink. Today was still pretty bad with chunks of ice and a few holes town to the concrete. The tires never missed a beat...in fact, the factory tires on my truck sucked so bad, it sat parked in the garage all weekend.

One of the less expensive AT tires around, 60k mi. treadwear warranty (does not apply to LT), and severe snow rating (most sizes)...it's hard to beat.

 

I know some people may not like the idea, but I would suggest treadwright retread tires. I've had mine for about 10k miles now and they have performed great on road and off-road. You can get 4 265/75/16's for about $550 shipped. I have the AT tires called the Wardens, but I know a ton of members here run the guard dogs. Check them out!

I'll second this. I had the General grabber at2s on my 4 runner. Then went to guard dogs then to the wardens. For the money, the treadwright's are hard to beat.
