Ok guys here is a tough question for you, I have a 97 tacoma that for some reason when I turn on the air the only part that blows is the Side Vents. None other works, not the middle, whichever setting I put it on it still blows through the side vents, Please give me some advice to lead me in the right direction. Thanks guys!!

Well the blend door is the flap that controls how much heat or cold you get per the temp control knob. Are you able to control the temp just not able to control what vents it comes out of? The 97 should be cable actuated, can you hear any noise when you move the switch, like a servo motor. I would look around and see if you can see cables or hear that servo motor. If its cable its probaly just a stuck flap.

If you cannot control the temp the blend door is not operating. It can either be cable or servo actuated. Check the link in the post above and see if you can see thos cables or not. Basically the same goes for the door to change the airflow.

    My wallet is empty
I'm not sure if this is the same issue or just slightly related. I have a '96 V6 - the heat works (kind of) It get warm but only just...It's a bit warmer the the 10 degree ambient air but my previous Tacoma got HOT. Any thoughts on what could be the problem would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking maybe the thermostat was broken. Please let it not be the heater core. It doesn't smell like antifreeze inside and there is no film on the windshield.

The only cable I am able to locate on the right side (passenger) is for the ait temperature control. On the drivers side I found the series of white plastic actuators that control the vents. From what I can tell they move as they should. I still cannot not figure out why the two front vents will not work. Any ideas?

Just make sure that the vents are open or closed as per the knob. The actuator gears could be off causing the door to be partialy open or closed instead of completley open or closed.
