To all: Who does your major work on your truck? Mechanic? Yourself? I consider myself very handy but I know my limits... I have a 3" Toytec kit w/ AAL that has been sitting in boxes in my garage for 3 months now. Ive covered all areas of how im goin to get it put on.. first my uncle (free) fell through, then a few mechanic friends (around $500) but just out of my price range on things that are of importance, a referred to shop (around $600 w/ alignment) but had to wait and save. Today I had another opportunity for me to get the lift on by a friends friend on the side but he also said $500. I understand the goin rate for this job now and that I will have to continue to wait and drool over each lifted truck I see on the road and online. But was wondering how everyone else got their lift on? Did u deal with a similar scenario waiting, do it yourself, get hooked up on an install price, or had around 500 beans to drop right away? Thanx in advance for the feedback.

changed my wheel bearing today, may do the other side. have it getting diagnosed to see if CV's or WB.

When I pulled the old bearing it was covered in mud and shit.

If any of you need wheel bearings, you should buy the assemblies from Kevin.

You should also remember that wheel spacers make life really difficult, all the time.

 

i hear they're a pain on the tacos because of the metal body? you either have to grind that out or cut the bolt or some nonsense?

 

TIL that fluid film is near impossible to find so I used 3M underbody crap.

Took me a few hours to do my lift in my brother in law's garage and I did the UCAs at a later date, which took me about 2 hours.

 

I didn't do so bad then....time wise

 

Did It myself (with the help of my brother) in my driveway with limited tools and shitty cold temps.
-OME coils
-Dakar leaf pack
-new shocks all the around

 

yeah i agree with everyone else, DIY the bitch.

Im getting a propane heater for Xmas! haha. I love diy, im a carpenter by hobby and soon to be training to be a certified welder. Im not that confident in my mechanical skills as I have never worked on trucks/motors. I def wish I was a weekend warrior taking my truck apart, then back together to drive it to work on monday. Since I bought my truck I have been testing the waters doing some mods here and there. Now I just keep thinkn bout "what am i goin to do next?" hah. If your serious let me know, id love some help DIYing that bitch!
