When for a Xmas day run, where it is 22F. When I got back to the truck, I was hot so I turned on the fan, and the temp down to cold. I noticed that the fan made a chattering/chirping sound.

It went away when I turned the temperature up to hot.

I guess the lube on the fan is not mean for extreme cold temps.

Anyone else notice this? Any way to get to the fan in order add some lube?

Are you talking about the fan above the glove box?

That sounds like the area that it's coming from.

Okay yeah just take your glove compartment door off and you will see the fan assembly and filter inside a small door and just see exactly where the sound is coming from then take it from there.

Ok thanks. I am about due to replace the cabin filter for the 1st time, anyway. Maybe I'll wait til Spring, though :)

Dumb question. Can you remind me what the warranty is for these items? I bought it in June, 2011. Probably out of warranty by now.

Actually, I think this answers my question. Since I am off this week, gonna let Mr. Toyoda pay for it.

Yep, 3 yrs/36,000 miles unless you bought an extended warranty.

FYI, took the truck to the dealer today (under warranty), and they replaced the entire fan unit. They said there is really no way to lubricate it. I hope this doesn't mean that I'll be doing it again soon. I am not real confident.

At least the dealership replaced it for you. It was probably just a lemon unit.
