33"/10.5" tires?

33" by 12.5" tires on my 4cyl seems like a little to much stress on my small engine. If i decided to go with a 33" tall and a 10.5" wide tire do you think it will be alright?

 

There are some people running 255/85's on here. It is just a tall skinny tire.

 

yeah Jason's right, The Interco Super Swamper TRXS MT 255/85/16 tire is tall and skinnier so therefore less weight per tire and they're like 32.7" tall and fit on a 7" rim nicely. I once had a set of 265/80/16 super swamper TSL Radials on an 02 Tacoma 4x4 3.4L V6 and they were like 50lbs each so not too bad.... I also had a set of 32X10.5 15" TSL Radials on my 1998 Tacoma 4x4 2.7L 4Cyl and they didn't kill the power too much but it did struggle up hills in fifth gear somewhat.

 

If you put 33s on you 2.7L you will NEED to re-gear.

 

Thanks for all the info guys. So do you guys suggest putting 32"s or 33"/10.5 on my 2.7L if i dont want to regear?

Also here's some pics shortly after I got 32s and suspension TSB. They drove decently well without re-gearing. Sometimes it was hard to stay up to speed on the highway when there was a strong head wind, until I replaced the air filter with a K&N. I also HAD to use 4LO for offroading.

Bumpers are expendable... Plenty of room (maybe even enough for 33s? muah ha ha ha)

 

What kind of lift do you have? And how many inches?

 

In these pics I have no lift, just the Suspension TSB.

 

I tried to get the tsb on my reg cab, dealer as savvy enough to say no go. Would love to know what you told em to get it Drew02

 

I just told them I had a "harsh ride" and that the suspension bottomed out under loads that were well within the factory ratings. Also, that as a musician I needed my truck to be capable of hauling my gear. I happened to have the TSB with me. They were smart enough to see that the part numbers for the springs were the same as the trucks included in the TSB and didn't give me any hassle.

 

I was on the right track then. I told them the 3 leaf springs were the same on both ( a bluff from me cuz I didn't know for sure), they just stuck to the tsb wording. They got condescending and said " do you like your truck" ! I almost said the F. you, instead i said yea thats why im here lol. The only job lower than sales man and service writer is to become a phone telemarketer.

 

i had 35"x12.50 on 10" rims on my 4 banger. i had 5.29 gears and a 5 speed and still was able to do over a 100mph. big or long hills killed me
