I know this is going to be a silly question to most, but I have an auto, and well, if I wanted to get a standard tranny, anyone know what I would be looking at, cost wise for parts and all?

Not sure so much on the cost but you'll also have to consider, Toyota doesn't offer DCLB manual transmission. So you -will- need a custom propeller shaft and custom mounts for the prop shaft. A used MT 6-speed from a 4.0 4x4 goes for about 800 bucks, but probably closer to $1,100 after shipping. Still need:

    Clutch Pedal
    Clutch Master
    Clutch Slave
    Clutch Lines
    Fly Wheel
    Clutch
Transfer case (I think the auto and manual ones are difference)
    Interior trim pieces

There's also a chance you need to change the ECU. The 1st gen Tacos are head a hole in the floor for the clutch pedal, so you might luck out there with the automatic.

I'm going to ballpark this as done at around 2000-2500 if you DIY and are very frugal. 4-5k+ for someone else to do it for you.

I was sorta disappointed in Toyota not having an DCLB with a MT so I did some research a few yrs back and those are the the rough numbers as I remembered. I toyed with the idea of doing it, but once the costs mounted up, it made more sense to get an Access Cab and then spend the money towards fun stuff like suspension or a flippac.

Sorry I just don't know a whole lot about the transmission yet to fully understand. But so including all of the parts that you listed above in bold, is that what makes up the transmission, or would you have to get the transmission ontop of that?
Yeah I kind of figured it would be pricey, but I have done so much work on my truck and well I want to make it my dream truck, which has to have a manual in it.

No, not at all. Those are not parts of the transmission. Those are parts required on top of the transmission itself.
To be honest, you should stick with the auto on the second gens. Swap costs aside, the auto is a better transmission than the 6MT.

What is it about the automatic that is that much better than the manuals?

I test drove one and I just didn't like the feel of it, didn't like the clutch action and I thought the shifter was too clunky, and I love manual trannys. So I bought the auto, meh, it's a good tranny for sure but i was just disappointed with the manual.

I think he wants to rebuild them. If he shows up with the ifp depth figures and pressure specs it should be pretty easy.

Just bottom out the IFP. Better to have a larger nitrogen cavity.

Thanks. That is exactly what I was looking for.

EDIT: I was also wondering, if you throw in the URD kit, would that hypothetically fix the TOB issue?
