The last 2 switches are what I plan on using (1 to power on and off and the other to determine in or out)...

Can someone explain or show me a wiring diagram on how to wire this to solenoid? Thanks.

i have a warn m8000 winch, so it might be a little different for your xrc8, but here's what i did:

part numbers of the switches i used are in the diagram. let me know if you have any questions. some pictures are in my build thread.

So is it a 12V positive signal that goes from winch to switch then the switch sends the 12V to either in or out depending on what you push? (And a on off switch that interrupts it for safety)

Yes. Here's how I wires my warn 9.5xp. You'll def want a safety switch to kill power to the toggle switch so you don't accidentally hit the button and cause the winch to spool out or winch in

Yep, that's exactly how I did it. The main switch is a DPDT momentary on-off-on (normally off -- center) switch with a standard switch wired inline to interrupt the power feed so I can't accidentally hit the winch in/out.

It looks like this in the cab:

The part numbers for the switches I used from OTRATTW are in my schematic.

Thanks. So the 12V I get to the switch doesn't have to come from the winch wiring (like it would for the remote) right? I can just use a constant or ACC 12V that I use for my other switches? Does it draw a lot where I need to use a relay or is it just enough to signal to the solenoid to power?

Correct! Use a constant or ACC 12v source and just "T" into the remote wiring. This way you leave the original function of the winch's remote intact while adding the in-cab control functionality.

Because you're tapping into the low-power side of the winch solenoid, you don't need to run any relays on your in-cab controls because they can handle the voltage. It's just the signal and the solenoid takes that signal and completes the big power circuits which are the heavy gauge wires run straight to the battery.

Why use a DPDT switch instead of a SPDT? I don't see a reason to use a ground? As far as I can tell the switch just needs to direct a 12V + from the solenoid to the switch to either the in or the out signal... Am I right?

not sure on the XRC8, but with warn you have to switch the ground too as a safety measure. i don't believe a SPDT would work.

I think the XRC8 just has a 12V positive that gets switched to either in or out so the SPDT would work.

I grounded mine at the control solenoid to avoid the double pole switch. See the brown wire tied to terminal 3 and 1 on my previous post
