A while back I had posted about doing the billy 5100s for the front and a AAL in the rear. Most of you said to get a progressive leaf pack instead. SO I was on Toytec's website and I was wondeirng if this is one or is this just a AAL too. Its the ICON 1.5 and I hear some say the get either icon, deaver, dakar, or ome. Still a newbie. I've got the 2+ overload pack on my stock '08 trd off road now and thought if I went with billy 5100 at 1.75" I may need some kind of pack in the back for lift so I won't be nose high. I do haul wood just maybe two times a year in my truck bed.

Yes the icon is a progressive and rides much better than a single aal.

Its got 3 thinner leaves instead of 1 thick leaf... More compliant and retains plenty of load carrying ability.

    Love mine.

Its just an aal tho, its not a replacement leafpack

Wheeler's makes 2 of them actually, one standard which would be comparable to the Icon one linked above and one HD version better suited for towing and hauling.

Brock is correct, the Icon one is progressive and rides really nice!

They install just like any other AAL. They need to be added to your stock leaf pack.

X2. I would have went with these instead of a single AAL but these werent out when I lifted my truck a few years ago.

They seem very similar both in performance and price. My Icon set lasted a long time and put up with a decent amount of heavy hauling and towing. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat. I don't have any first hand experience with the Wheeler's version but haven't read anything negative about them. I believe one is made my Alcan and one is made by Deaver if I'm remembering correctly.

I've had both the Wheelers standard and the Icon. I prefer the Icon over the Wheelers any day. It rides smoother, doesnt squeak and seems to be a little heavier duty.

Pardon my ignorance, but if I were to buy either one of these do I need to replace my shocks too?

Not 100% necessary but the ride would benefit from a better shock. I was running a TSB leaf pack, the Icon 3-leaf AAL with the factory overload leaf still in place with Bilstein 5100's and I was happy with the results. Your stock shocks will probably work for a while but will struggle to dampen the stronger leaf pack and will eventually give up or blow out. Could be a week, could be a year before it happens.

Gotcha. Thanks for all your help and I've always wondered, do you have a build thread on your truck? You and all the other guys here on TW know what ya'll are talking about and always want to help others with their questions.

I do, just ignore the last page :anonymous:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-builds/120964-puggas-superwhite.html

My build up isn't nearly as impressive as a lot of the members on here though. I kept my lift relatively mild and my truck was mostly a pavement pounder. I selected my lift doing just what you're doing now, asking questions and reading reviews on this site as well as the vendor's sites.

I'm planning on sticking around until I get physically removed. The people here are cool and I've gotten to know quite a few local members personally. Figure if a moderator can rock a Jeep without being overthrown, I'm safe :)

I have the standard wheelers 3 leaf lift. 5100 all around. Front set to 2.5 on trd offroad springs in the front. Removed overload leaf in the rear. No complaints though I've never rode in a 1 leaf AAL lift.
