Does anyone know how to replace an upper control arm on a 2006 4x4 trd tacoma. When trying to remove the bolt, it hits the inner fender. Thank You in advance.

If I was to do mine again I would buy new bolts, depending how expensive they are!!!, before bending and cracking or chipping the paint on the inner fender, and cut the heads off the original ones. I think someone mentioned doing it in a previous thread.

If you have a tool to tap the bolt out, its not very difficult, and minimal bending is required. I use a 6" long 3/8 socket extension.

+1 on the socket extension- I didn't seen any major paint damage from when I bent mine.

There was no major damage done but any chips or cracks in the paint are going to rust up here in the "north" with the amount of salt that is applied to the roads in the winter. Before the snow flies I'll probably spray a little paint in the damaged spots.
Getting the bolts out and back in again was no problem though.

Thank You Chris4x4. I already have the new control arm on. I appreciate the offer to help also. Next time I am up there, I buy you a beer.

Just did my Total Chaos UCA's this weekend thanks to your thread here. Thank you all for the tips! Only one thing to add, the wire loom on the other side of the fender well is for your front impact sensors for SRS airbag. Don't make the same mistake I did and pull the wires out of the sensor by grabbing the fender well and the loom at the same time! Just be careful when using your channel locks, and ensure you don't grab both the wire loom and metal when you bend it out of the way! FML. Other then that, the instal took about 2 hours with standard tools and lots of pb blaster.

those are 3 and 3/4 inches long. You need about 3x that for our trucks. Which is unfortunate, because that would be nice.

    1. That doesn't fit a second gen Tacoma UCA.
    2. There's no Sport Cab...

Toyota has never called it "large" cab. It's either access cab or extended cab.
