LMAO scared us too pretty badly at first.

Happened the whole way up to flagstaff, 2.5 hour trip once for a camping trip. I must have had my bed loaded at justttt the right weight to make the angle perfect for the sound. It was terrible.

Hasn't really happened that much since. The dealer suggested changing the windshield like you said but I agree - doesn't seem worth it or effective for that sound.

That's the weather stripping on the roof not fully sealed. I've had the dealer replace mine twice now. I also have the grill whistle so know the difference

I get the same whistle as the video shows and I thought it was coming from the door jamb or something. I hear it most prominently coming from the upper rail on drivers side door. Windshield or weather stripping on the roof seems to make the most sense to me. How did you confirm it was the weather stripping on the roof?

Well I've had the grill whistle since I drove off the lot so I'm very familiar with that sound. The grill and the weather stripping are totally different sounds(pitch and tone). Back in September I started to notice the sound in op's video during crosswinds. We frequently get 30+mph winds where I live so it would happen a lot. One day while washing the truck I noticed the weather stripping peeled back a bit on the roof. I tucked it into place and drove on. Started noticing the sound again and looked at the stripping. It had peeled back again. At my next service appointment I began to mention it to the service manager. He basically finished my sentence and said that the stripping was a common problem and replaced it. Only needed to be replaced twice because the glue got rained on before it fully cured.

I'm curious to look into this with the dealership out here, and to make sure we're all on the same page we're talking about 3 different sounds.

1: Grill whistle sound: solution = replace front grill
2: Window whistle sound, slightly louder: solution = replace windshield. According to you this is not the same as the video posted previously that we're all referencing. It sounds like people have been going ahead with this replacement thinking it would fix #3.
3: The loud crosswind sound that almost seems like it comes from the mirrors: solution = replace weather stripping piece on roof of taco

Yes, and to add to that, I've replaced my windshield(due to cracks) so that's not causing the "grill whistle".

This thread offers some more info on various whistles and solutions if the dealer won't help. Dealer couldn't replicate the grill whistle for me of course.http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/189392-2012-whistling-sound-indentified.html

I would almost guarantee it is coming from the side mirrors. Mine sounds like if you blow across the top of a coke bottle. Any thoughts on what if anything can be done with the mirrors? I also had the whistle from the front but the dripline took care of that. My 2010 had no mirror roar. Drove across country in it and had harsh crosswinds in Nebraska with no noise.

If it sounded like Ops video I guarantee it was the weather stripping.

Mine does this all the time in crosswinds and headwinds. Especially here on the coast where the gust reach 35-40 MPH. Today was one of those days. I never thought much of it. It seems to be a defect in the design, which we can't do much about. Do y'all think that it can be fixed?

Mine has held up since the dealer replaced them. Not a peep since and there have been strong winds.

What weather stripping? Mine sounds like it is exactly coming from drivers side mirror.

I imagine they charge if warranty is up but they replaced mine for free under warranty.

My 2013 makes the noise on th e passenger window. I know it is the window, because a buddy was sitting there one time when it happened. If he put his finger against the top of the window (like finger tips pushed in the creavis of the glass and metal edge of the window frame) the noise stopped. I think it has to be the window not sitting properly. I have not gone to the dealer about this because it happens rarely and I put sound deadening material on the door and figured they would blame that.

Mine had the whistling sound one day. I was on the interstate with the hammer down and thought I had a window not all the way up. It was irritating. I've since been on the same trip and it didn't whistle.

I will bring mine next week and want to get all the info ready:

Who has the wind noise and HOW did they FIX it? Did it occur again?

    Thanks.

I just picked up a new 2014 access cab yesterday and on the 70 mile ride home experienced a loud wind noise coming from the passenger side. We were having 30 mph winds with gusts to 50 mph. At times sounded like a jet airplane was passing overhead. We have strong winds often during this time of year, hence I'm looking forward to the resolution of this problem

Sounds like the weather stripping on the roof of the cab. Common issue.
