What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Turned on the truck this morning and my abs light was flashing. Wtf.

 

Do you have an ultragauge or dumped exhaust?

If you have an ultragauge, do this mod or buy the accessory wire on their website.

If you have a dumped exhaust, it could have melted the abs wire on the axle.

 

I do indeed have an ultragauge. Ive never had this problem before though!?

 

Mine didn't for about the first month, now I get it 99% of the time. I've just been too lazy to do the mod haha

Another way around it is to turn the key to the on position, let it sit until the ABS light turns off on the dash, then start your truck. Shouldn't flash then.

 

Mine starting flashing randomly about 3 months ago. I never thought of the chopped exhaust as being a culprit. Does anyone know if both rear wheels have an abs sensor?

Although, I will now order the isolation cable to stop the flashing abs issue.

It definitely goes across the passenger side front of the axle, which is the only side to be worried about for exhaust. Somebody on here had theirs melt do to exhaust, but mine has been dumped for over 12,000 miles with no issues.

That's what I always do! Haha I just don't want to pay the shipping on the dang cable!

 

So you just yank a pin out and the computer is no longer confused?

I asked about the sensor on both sides because when I first got the blinking light, I had a mechanic friend plug an ABS computer to my deal. It said the driver side sensor had tripped the code. But the sensor showed no issue and operated normally when we test drove my truck with the abs monitor plugged in.

No I need to look under my rear and see if my exhaust is aiming at my abs wire.

 

Yup haha just push the pin out with a paper clip and then I'd wrap the wire you took out with some tape and tuck it away.

 

Yeah, wish they would have had those on the last group buy...

Could be the front driver side sensor?

Yeah, I'd definitely check out your exhaust. You'll see the wire since it's the only one on the front of the axle on that side.

 

I forgot to say "driver side rear"

I firmly believe my abs dummy light issue has to do with the UG!.

Saw a ton of people get fucked down there. Almost every video I saw though showed drivers going way too fast for the conditions. Definitely not implying that's what happened to you though.
