    haha we are chevy guys with the exception of broncos.

    the main reason I have the truck is the deal we could get on it from my uncle. dont get me wrong I love the truck. But I am a huge fan of the 5.3 chevy motor.

    We are actually considering putting one in the bronco.

    I've never been a big fan of Chevys even though my dad has a silverado 3500 with a 454 and If you wanna bigger motor I've got a BBF 460/7.5 I can give you a good deal on

    not necessarily motor size. but the entire electrical system in the bronco is shot. so we are either going to put in a new computer/EFI system. or switch to a chevy system and put a beefed up 5.3 in.

    we already have a 5.3 laying around that we may rebuild.

    but its all in the works. the damn thing doesnt even start/run anymore so its a back burner project right now

    It's not difficult. Basically it's the same operation as regearing. Just buy it and take your chunk in to whoever regeared it for you last time and have them install it with your existing R&P.

    I know how to do it, but I don't have the magnetic base for a dial indicator needed to set the lash properly. I've also never done it on a Toyota third member. Did the Danas in my YJ and the 8.8 in my Bronco. I'm pretty sure Yotas are easier though since you can adjust the carrier from side to side without having to shim the carrier bearings. Hopefully, the pinion gear wouldn't need to be messed with.

    i thought that it was bolt and unbolt with these lockers without having to mess with stuff like that

    BUT i just remembered i have my old 3.58 3rd member in the garage, i can always play with that

    If it's a full Detroit Locker, then it replaces your open carrier. You have to remount your ring gear to it which means you'll have to setup the gears again, though, hopefully only the ring gear. I'm guessing that the pinion gear would be fine. Here. Check this out. The guy explains it pretty well, IIRC, though he's actually installing an ARB which is a little more complex. It's the same process though to set up the gears. (Although, I'm not convinced that his method of determining what the lash should be is the best one.)
