Hello i have a 2012 non-jbl oem stereo, with bluetooth, steering wheel controls, and xm. I am looking into replacing it with a 2014 touchscreen navigation stereo with all the same funtions.

I know theres write ups on switching radios from different years but i am unable to find a 2014 to 2012, if their is i'm sorry for making a new topic. I am looking for detailed information, plus pictures if possible of the swap. What parts are needed and will everything function like it did before including voice control?

    Thank you for your time.

Its the same as going to a 2013. Except you need a wiring adapter for the antenna.

I'm waiting for one more part before installing mine and I'll keep you updated. I got the antenna adapter and 20/28 pin adapter but not sure if will run into any other connection issues like with our shark fin for gps, Bluetooth or USB issues.

Ok, so installed today and everything went smooth. I don't have a vin yet but everything else is functioning. I was also adding an Audio Control LCQ-1 so I could run my PDX-V9 amp, focal P165's and my little 8" JL audio ported sub box. I soldered into all speaker signals behind the radio. Ran ground to center console area. Power came from a constant power source by add a fuse. Signal came from the blue wire on the antenna adapter. Hard to get pictures since was doing myself and trying to hold and plug everything in. Mounted my LCQ-1 above my glove box on the removable plastic shelf. I can remove glove box and bring it all the way to the floor for adjustments if needed and then just tuck it back up when done. Here are some takeaways from this mod so far without having entune apps up and running do to no vin yet.

Shark fin antenna on 2012 will not plug into 2014 entune. I just used the gps antenna that came with the entune and tucked it up in the dash behind the stereo. Plenty of room.

20/28 pin adapter was awesome. No worries there.

Voice command and factory Bluetooth working as normal with factory mic.

    Steering wheel controls all work.

Bottom line.....I ditched my appradio 3 for this and it was well worth it. Sound is amazing with LCQ-1 added. Very very clean. Honestly think it's due to the stronger output signal than the appradio 3 had. Finally my high end components sound like they should. Thanks FLTrucks!

Awesome write-up, Your set up is almost the same as mine, so its nice to know that everything works, i was afraid of switching it out only to lose some functionality. I also have a sound processor and get a audible hiss at lower volumes, do you have that with the LCQ-1? its more noticeable if the gain is set passed nominal on the pdx-v9.

I believe entune doesnt work in canada, do you know what apps can be used without the entune? have you tried out the GPS?

My set up is a pxe-h660 sound processor, pdx-v9, Alpine spr-60C components, 10" type r in custom box.

    Thanks

What voice control switch do you have? Can you take a picture of your steering wheel controls and post it? I have a 2013 but dont think I have a voice control switch.

    Thanks

Yeah, LCQ1 is giving me hissing at low volume as well. I turned down the gains on the LCQ1 to reduce it but it's always there. Weird huh? Not bothersome though since now it's at really low level. Might try turning LCQ1 gains up and PDX down or find a happy balance.

Haven't used apps yet since every VIN I have tried so far doesn't work. Not sure why since the trucks I found even say they have entune. Gonna have to talk to FLTrucks for sure.

Haven't tried USB yet but wouldn't know why that wouldn't work as we'll.

The voice control switch is located under the bluetooth call controls, i believe 2013's didnt come with it, but it was brought back for 2014 but i could be wrong.

Ya i heard that regrounding the factory deck a dedicated ground might solve the hiss, but i havent been able to get around to trying it. As you said it's managable, i just wish i could turn the gain up on the amp to be able to push it a bit.

As for the VIN i believe that each vehicle can have a vin used for 5 units as long as its the same type of truck it came out of, not sure why it wouldnt work or yours.

The usb i would hope would work the same, did you have to buy a conversion adapter for it? I would be interested to see how the menu screens are layed out for scrolling through artists and albums, i dont like how the non touchscreen operates for usb.

I'll have to try that grounding idea. Thanks for the tip. So, USB isn't charging my phone but can't remember if it did before. I don't have music on my phone since it's a new GS4 so couldn't test music transfer via USB. Also, have tried multiple VIN's that "should" work but app keeps giving me error that the VIN is invalid and does not have entune. I'm kinda worried toyota is going to reference VINs with owners and deny us access. I mean, why not just charge us for it? I'd pay if it wasn't astronomical. Anyway, until I get the VIN to work I'm dead in the water on apps.

I am starting this project myself. I have a 2012 and I bought an OEM 2013Nav unit. I am looking for the 20/28 pin adapter and antenna adapter. I alsowant to change my rear view camera to the NAV screen. If anyone has links onwhere to buy this it would be helpful.

    Thanks

I am considering this swap have you gotten the xm to work I read somewhere it requires a separate tuner for that and any progress on the USB fix.
