Yesterday I saw something I never wanted to see on my tacoma 2005 frame, Rust is damaging frame next to catalyst...and there's now a hole on frame at this place...shit ! I hope isn't same story as earlier tacoma 1995-2004 ?! Is is an issue that Toyota is aware ? What I'm should do with that...?
If you guys know more about this rust problem please shared information with me !!

    Cheers !

here's a picture showing damaged frame..

i think I read in passing that it is an issue on the '05, which I wish I knew before buying. I would have been more thorough in my inspection. Luckily I don't live anywhere with a lot of salt on the roads/in the air.

Rust was an issue on all toyotas as long as I can remember.

they filed some report or something with corporate and that was about it, the guy that was helping was real helpful though, he wanted to help. yours actually look worse than mine though, I'll find my thread (or try anyways) and post a link here, I'm gonna probably call corporate soon and complain to them as well, the way I figure it, If they hear from me enough they might do something about it (maybe?)

mine is a few posts down. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/305058-05-frame-rust.html

The official Toyota Facebook page is the thing that will cause the most reaction if you don't get a desired response from the dealer or corporate. When you throw their dirty laundry to everyone looking they have to respond to avoid looking like they don't care. Say something along the lines that the truck is less than 10 years old, but is showing similar symptoms as 1st gens which received a frame buyback.

Before you put toyota on blast maybe see if they will rectify the problem.. If you don't give them a chance and put that on Facebook , they could totally ignore you after that for pissing them off

call Toyota corporate office and complain to them and they will notify a dealer and hopefully they will replace it. When I called they said they were aware of the issue and were handling it as they came up. They told me if a dealer says that it is unsafe they will replace the frame free of charge to the customer.

Ok ! got some news, I went to dealer, put truck on lift and had a look, and guys said the frame is fully rusted and damage near catalyst. However guy at Service said there's no recall on that issue... and frame is guarantee 2 years/50000km !! WTF!! that's a joke, my truck have no more value.. itsn't a 1985.. it's a 2005 ! and now it worth nothing... grrrr
Guy at service took some pictures of frame and are supposed to send it to Toyota and see what they gonna say, but according to him they wont do anything.

So I'll wait around 2 weeks from their news, if I don't get any news or positive news, I'll call to Toyota at customer service as you recommended me on previous post.
They didn't ask me the vin# and I just see your last post after my visit to toyota....

Are you guys sure there's a recall about that rust issue from Toyota ? If yes and you have more information about which vin# is impacted, let me know please !

For you guys who got bad news from Toyota and dealer, what your're gonna do ? would you weld some steel plate on frame ?! or leave it like that. ?

Here's more pics for you !
