dude, i think we just give you a hard time because we can , ^^^ this is part of ur problem too, just do whatever you like, it's your truck, plus remember its the interwebz, everybody can hate on my mall crawler with 20's and street tires all they want, i don't take it personally

 

Not criticizing, just talking from experience, had a suburban with a 10k winch on the front with a front mount and hitch, thing was a beast and sagged the front a lot, but it did come in handy when you wanted to switch the winch from front to back reciever depending on how you wanted to get winched out.

That's what I was originally going to buy, till I realized for only about $300 more I could get a complete bumper.

the front receiver only costs $200 and I still need to be saving for my midtravel setup, so this was the best way to go. this was off the expedition portal

I would be worried about your approach angle with the winch sticking out like that.

 

Not to tell ya what to do but if I may suggest just waiting till you can get your bumper instead of doing a band aid fix(like a hidden winch or a mount like in the pic) I've done a lot of those cause they were cheaper and trust me it's no fun.

 

I just put the Smittybuilt on my truck dude like Tim said it seems like it will do the trick!. I like it. However, it weighs a ton dude. But somehow, the winch and ARB bumper did not seem to phase those 700# King springs..lol

Tim any progress on your rig dude? I know you told the dude to take his time just wondering. I think it's the most anticipated rig to date besides guy's 4runner and that's done...

 

Spend the extra bit and get the 10K. Trust me, with the route you're taking the truck you're going to need it.
