    I have an 06 tacoma sport 4x4 4.0 with the LSD ONLY sticker on my rear differential. Will it be ok to use mobil 1 LS
    $29 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    75w-90 in my rear differential WITH Trans-X posi - trac limited slip gear additive?? DOES THE MOBIL LS need an additive?

    Does anyone no what the tacoma 06 sport gear oil is from the factory? Brand and weight, also is there an additive, the manual doesn't say to add an additive only 80 or 90w GL-5 gear oil, in which the mobil 1 is? Confused?

    You don't have the mechanical LSD either. Big difference. The mobil1 should work though even with mechanical since it states it has the modifier in it.

    True, my current truck doesn't have the old school lsd, but my 2005 had the true lsd like the op's. That is what i was referring to.

    Yes you will be fine to use what you have, it's the same as mine and is what I have on hand to change my 06 sports front and rear differential... If the weather ever gets warmer and quits snowing...

    Yesterday at a friends hunting club I crossed a flooded stream and the water was deeper than I thought, the water came over the hood, should I change my gear oil. Sorry to still Thread.

    I used that oil in my 2012 when I did my 30k and put it in my tcase, front and rear diff. You're good to go : )

    I have done this before and when changed didnt show any sign of water intrusion. Would really depend on when it was changed last and if you want to take a chance on it. If ot has been awhile i say change it if time and money allow.

    I used the Trans-x additive and had issues after about 5000 miles. Read here where the GM additive was recommended. I changed mine again using the GM additive and all is well.
