Hey guys. I'm new to the forum and I just picked up my first Tacoma which is an 05 extended cab 6spd. It has 169,xxx miles, but it was driven by an older driver that took it 121 miles to and from work every day. Since this is my first Tacoma I don't know very much about them and am looking foreword to learning about them and starting to make mods on mine! As of right now my truck is completely stock and I have a few things in mind when it comes to some quick mods off hand:

    -3-6 in lift
    -New tires and black rims
    -wheel spacers
    -New grill
    -Halo lights
    -headache rack
    -Blacked out windows
    -subs

So far this is all I got. I'd appreciate any input or ideas as to what else I can do to it! I'm all about power upgrades, but also love some gas mileages tips at the same time. Any help on the lift, tire size, and sub set up would be awesome! Thanks ahead of time and I look forward to talking with you guys!

Some body with a $1500 lift budget
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/316514-what-should-i-do-1500-lift.html

It all comes down to a few things and the biggest being what are you using it for?

Trail riding, looks, forest service roads, snow days etc. Look at Toytec lift kits with billies & eibach coils & AAL (add a leaf). This will probably the best LEAST expensive way to go. Then there is the UCA (Upper Control Arm) question. Do you need them or do you not need them...? 2"-3" and above the answer is usually within 6 months or less. Under that you will probably be fine. (Yes I know there are exceptions to that rule). 6" lifts will blow thru bearings and all kinds of other shit really quick. Personally I am not a fan of them (drop bracket 6"lifts that is) but again my opinion. Most of the guys I see running trails hard either have really nice 3" lift set ups of have gone to ICON or some other mid travel company. Those start to run in upwards of $1500 just for front coils.

Say good bye to your money and productivity and let the research and modding begin.

    Welcome!!!

Also, check out the Northwest thread and see if you can't find some people close to you in Idaho. Get in on some trail rides and see some different set ups first hand.

Thanks for all the info! I want to make my truck look good, but at the same time I want a trail ready rig for when I go hunting up in the boonies. I'll definitely be looking into it!

Here's some pictures of the truck currently. Sorry I just got them off the craigslist add. I'll try to get some better pics up soon!

Welcome. Looks nice. I like the look with the black rims better.
Use the search tool in the forums... There's lots of good info on here.

Not much you can do about gas milage, except keep your foot light. Shift at low rpm, no need to wind it up to 4k.

And yeah, hope you have free time and some disposable income. Otherwise log off now and forget this site exists. I am forever planning and budgeting the next thing.

So I just found this grill in my area and the guy wants $50. Is that a good deal and how hard of an install is it? Just bolt on or cutting?
Not to mention it's off of an 07

just get it for 50 bucks and it will be nice to have a spare front bumper if you need to replace yours also go with a 3 inch since a 6 inch lift is mostly for show.

He wants 200 for the whole deal and I only want the grill. He said he's make me a $50 dollar deal for the grill and bug guard. Will the mesh grill piece and bug guard just bolt in there? Or is there drilling involved? And thanks on the lift tip!

Cool thanks. Problem with that is I'm at college right now and don't have too many tools. By a bit of work to make it fit what do you mean? Haha
