What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I'm curious why you want to change them. Do you have a frozen adjuster(s)? Or movement because of bad frame bushings?

 

i have not..every guy i have read about it though..HATES it haha even Jace hates it and is a tech. just sucks. All my ball joints and probably bushings are in need of replacement..but...would rather just replace the whole front with LT...so..yea..

 

Yea plus..very pricey haha

 

I think Silas ended up taking his LCAs to a shop to have the bushings pressed out when he was getting ready for Moab last year.

 

Something went down not fit with his haha he ended up loosing a major bushing.

 

Ah, forgot about the clunk.

 

I bought new bushing kits from the dealer when I had some LCA's made up for me that were beefed up stock ones with plating and re enforcement all over.

What happened?

 

Last week after I parked I couldn't get it to go back in d I let it sit and everything seemed fine shifted fine except sometimes it goes into reverse hard after startup. Looks like I'm in for a major mod

 

Fun, you gonna swap in a 5spd?

 

Thought about it but might be to much trouble to do on my own and to expensive to have someone do it.

 

Doesn't sound to bad if you have a daily driver, or a long weekend with all the parts.

Problem is I don't have a dd and taking public transportation really isn't an option for an extended period.

 

Plus it's a little out of my comfort zone, especially with no second set of hands. I wouldn't have a problem if it wasn't a did and could sit for a month but making my 11 hour days into 13 doesn't sound fun. I really wish I hadn't did my Honda.

 

Did you ever check your motor and transmission mounts?

 

Can you swap in a 5spd and will it still start and run w/o touching the elecronics? I realize it will most likely throw w chck engine light.

 

The computer bases a lot of the engine adjustments off transmission speed and such. You may be able to drive it, but I bet it would be rough.
