    Ok WTFFF
    Outside Temp: 20fh
Road Condition: Dry and Heavily salted...no ice
Truck: 2013 4.0 auto trans stock no modifications

At 8:36am I started up my tacoma and let her run for 10 minutes

At 8:47 I pulled out of my driveway to take my gf to work...Immediatly I felt that the truck was acting sluggishly I commented to my gf that it felt a little off. pulled up to stop sign to make right turn onto busy street.

Midway into turning onto busy street my truck's throttle cuts out and everytime I press the gas I move 2 inches and it cuts out. shifted through all the gears, D,4,2,L and nothing changed.(meanwhile I am in the middle of a busy ass road! cars are honking and I am trying to keep my cool)

Didn't have time to notice any lights going off and nothing was beeping at me.

Finally I flipped the truck into 4hi and it engaged and off I went...

After dropping off my gf .. I immediately drove to toyota dealership and did a test drive with computer hooked up with their head mechanic...he could not duplicate the problem and told me I need to take video next time it happens...

They called corporate and they have never had anyone with the same compaints..

What do you think this problem is??

It has happened to me once before but It was -13f outside and It wasnt on a busy street...that time, my VCS and ABS lights were flashing at me like crazy! road was dry and salted that time also

Do you have a lift or anything it could be your vsc they are notorious for having issues.

Thats weird if it was the vsc there should be the traction control light and beeping going off.

2013s don't have a VSC buzzer anymore Only for uphill assist and Auto LSD overheats. Kinda sounds like a malfunction with VSC or the steering angle needs calibration

If thats the case I would just take it to the dealership and tell them to recalibrate it for you or if your want to do it your self there is a technical chart that shows you how to do it in the link i posted. Its not gonna hurt anything to try it. Mine used to go off it is really sketchy and dangerous.

That means your rear tires were slipping so truck cut off the power. Its normal with new trucks. Once you engaged 4x4 truck were not slipping anymore and off you went.
Thats why I am glad I have 2007 with none of the crap.

At no time were my tires slipping, this is on a flat road making a right turn.

Is this computer issue? how come the truck was so sluggish when first pulling out of my driveway?

How come this has only happend 2 times out the 200

I don't have an issue when I doth heat it up. I have started on a -10 day before and drove immediately. Not the best idea but no acceleration cut out.

    nothing special.... wanna race?
On my old tacoma I had an issue with the rear solenoid where it would be cold or even warm and it would drive fine for 2 hours or I would have just started it and drove it out of the neighborhood and when I was trying to get into the median I pull to a complete stop to get into the median just like you turning right and when I hit the gas it would go but it stayed in first and did not shift then all the cars almost nailed me while I was inching my way in the median because I gave it just enough gas to make it to the median but didnt expect it to stay in first and it would not shift outa first untill I came to a complete stop and then gave it some gas again then it would shift fine.

It happened completely randomly and only when I had just started the truck or had been driving for over an hour and only when I came to a complete stop. The first time I took it in to the dealership and they cleared the code which was a rear solenoid code and said it fine and could not duplicate. Then it happened about 3 more times but was not throwing a code and the dealership said they couldnt do anything unless they could duplicate it so I traded it in for a another tacoma and asked for full price since they said nothing was wrong.
Heres the kicker 2 months after I got my new tacoma they call saying there was is an ongoing issue with the rear solenoid and I should have made them aware and I hung up the phone took my paper slips from the dealership to them and showed them the times I brought it in for the code and I still smile when I go in the dealership :D

    I hope this helps.

Another possibility is that the cold could have caused a connector terminal to be loose. (Think thermal contraction of metal when cold) Just from your description, and without being able to actually LOOK at your truck, I am thinking a possibility of a bad connection, or an issue with the TPS. :notsure:

But that is just a guess obviously.

Dead serious. I'm not sure if it's a timer or if the rear brakes are temp monitored but after a minute of slipping with Auto LSD on a buzzer will beep and auto LSD will flash

And yes. No more beeping while VSC takes over

Did the truck sit for awhile before that day in freezing temps?

Reason I ask is, my truck was a bit hesitant after sitting in freezing temps for a few days. Once I ran a few miles there were no hiccups but before that it acted exactly as you described.

I'm just laughing at how Toyota puts POS wannabe LSD system in your truck that cooks your brakes so badly it has an alarm on it so it doesn't catch them on fire.......

I should of sold my mechanical LSD instead of trading it for a locked third member.... mechanical LSD is so much better

So in your manual there is no mention of the VSC beeping to indicate wheel slip ?
