That's what happens when you put a real truck to use. Parts wear down :p

All of the u-joints are solid with no movement.

Carrier bearing bushing has a slight amount of play in it, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 130,000 mile part.

The only thing left I can think of would be the carrier bearing itself, which I can't check without taking apart stuff. I am getting some noticeable vibrations at around 50mph all of the sudden though, right before it started making a noise again. Makes me think that it may in fact be the bearing itself....

    Thoughts??? :notsure:

Also test fitted the relay box mount and installed the new ballasts from TRS

Really not bad at all. Mark the alignment on the flanges on the driveshaft, take rear section loose (bolts are 14mm), unstake the nut holding the carrier bearing on and take it off (26mm or 24mm I can't remember), remove the 2 bolts holding the cb (note the orientation of the cb bracket, it has tabs that point to the front), cb should slide off the front section of the driveshaft, then put it all back together lining the carrier bearing up perpendicular to the driveshaft (might not be a bad idea to trace the outside of the bracket with a marker to help line it back up). Might take ~30-45 min. On the new bearing there is a slot on either side that you're supposed to pack with grease. I packed mine and I guess as it turned it pulled some out so I need to pack it again.

Even if it's not the main problem, I guess it'd be a good idea to replace it....

Mine was toast, but I have a lot more miles than you. When I took it off I could shake it and the bearing would rattle away

Haha I could use your help as well!

Sometimes I wish I would've gotten my electrician career field I could have gotten instead of my current career field.
