Now I'm debating weather or not to do the dealer install. Dealer is asking $980 plus coolant.

If I do it myself then I won't have the remainder of my factory warranty if I understand correctly and how do I get it to the dealer for a reflash?

I've seen people say keep it off boost, but there's a freeway on the way to the dealer. I played around last week and can keep it under 2k rpm on the on ramp.

I just don't want to blow the motor or get any lights to come on. $980 is doable but $149 for the reflash and a few hours of my time sounds a hell of a lot better.

From what I understand, is if you do it yourself you won't void the trucks warranty. But if something were to break or happen that is caused by you installing it, then you'll be up shit creek

$980 is not a bad price to have that done. You'll pay about $150 to have the dealer re-flash the ECU and you still have to buy coolant either way.

The advantage to the dealer install is that the S/C will be covered by your powertrain warranty. If you install it yourself you DO NOT VOID your warranty, you just don't get coverage on the S/C after one year of the reflash.

Driving to the dealer is not fun, the truck runs rough and you're always worried about it running into boost. I had mine towed to the dealer by my insurance company so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

PM if you have any more questions, I went through the same thoughts myself when I installed mine.

980.00 plus coolant is high in my opinion. I got mine done for 690 including everything. I let the dealer do this only for the warranty aspect. However, with what I know now, I would install the blower myself. If you do decide to install yourself; I recommend using aftermarket green coolant. That way if the pink coolant is leaking you know its the engine; if the supercharger is leaking its green. Another member Coupe came up with this idea; very clever.

$980 is way too much for the install. Just scrap the whole idea, sell me the charger and let me deal with installing it.

Got it installed, did it myself. Not as bad as I thought, although I do have a couple of questions...

Does anyone know what to do with the passenger side VSV valve? Do I out the old one back on or keep it removed? Secondly the Boost port should be connected to the fuel rail? Having it flashed tomorrow. Hope to find out by then.

I can't remember on the VSV. However, the boost port shouldn't be connected to anything. Unless you have a boost gauge installed anyway. Or unless you are doing the FPR mod which you shouldn't be at this stage of the game.

The VSV gets unbolted from the stock intake manifold, bolted to the bottom of the oil filler neck, and run the lines as described in steps 21B, 12C.

I understood that part. That was the driver side vsv. Now the passenger side connector for its vsv just dangles there. Also should I cap off the boost port somehow? At the dealer now getting the reflash. Gotta button it up after to make sure it's all right

Back at the dealer after the reflash, trac and CEL came on. They're reading the codes right now but I'm betting they won't know what's going on - suggestions?

Yes, that boost port should have had a pink cap on it. It should still be on there. If not, find a way to cap it off. Tell us what the codes are

Dealer said lean codes. Wouldn't say much more when I pressed them.

The only other hose that's dangling now leads to the fuel rail. Right beside it is the connector to the old vsv valve. Where does the fuel rail hose go?

They should tell you exactly what the codes are. There's no magic information there that only they know about. If you have hoses going to the fuel rail though that would certainly be a cause for concern when it comes to leaning out.
If you bought it new it should have. See pink cap in pic below.

Yeah mine didn't have the cap. I've looked over the write up twice trying to figure out the connector. The instructions and the write up don't mention it either. I'm going to have play around and see what's going on

Yes there are two electrical connectors that don't connect to anything. As you can see in the pic; I taped them up so they wouldn't flap around. The hose coming out of your fuel regulator should connect to your air intake passage. Pretty obvious with an aftermarket CAI. You can usually stop by an autozone or advanced autoparts; they can lend you a scan gauge and find out exactly what the codes are.
