Exactly. Like doording said it is better to just get extended brake lines. This is just another option.

 

Yeah I honestly have never touched my brakes and bleeding brake lines is foreign to me. That is why I was a little hesitant to extend them and rather do whatever I can not too. I might just go ahead and buy them though. any recommendations for a certain rear set? Seems to me like a simple search shows a ton that all appear the same.

Plus they are a direct fit. I got mine from Wheeler's and had to grind a bigger hole in the bracket which was kind of a pain in the ass.

 

anyone know how high a set of jack stands should be able to extend to get the rear end high enough to install the Dakars? I am looking around online to get a set but not sure how far they should go to be high enough. A set I am looking at has a these specs

I am wondering the same thing. A friend of mine said the higher you can get the truck the easier it is.

I just got two sets of 6 ton jack stands from harbor freight, a second jack, and a cheap creeper to hopefully make it easier. I have two 2 ton jack stands that don't get anywhere near as tall.

 

I installed mine with some pretty standard jack stands that came with my jack at Lowes. Wasn't too bad. All you really need to do is get the tire off then you have plenty of play in the axle to the ground (without breaking a brake line) to install the leafs.

 

Thanks I figure I will get the truck up as I high as I can safely and I should be alright.

I need to do some research tonight and find what the torque specs are on everything.

 

There's a sticky on top of the 2nd Gen forum that someone just posted a few days ago with all the specs. I used this thread as a guide, I think it has most of the torque specs in it as well:

I didn't end up needing to finagle my leafs like bjmoose did though, mine slid right in pretty easily.

 

Okay cool I was really surprised he need to use the bottle jack to flex the springs into place. Thanks for the links I saw those threads and was about to go try and find them. You just saved me some time!

How long did it take you to do the rear? It doesn't seem like it should take all that long.

 

Taking your time, I'd say 2-3 hours for the rears. They were pretty simple.

I looked at those today. There are 25% coupons all over the internet I might go pick them up tomorrow. I picked up a 1/2" torque wrench. Hopefully this will do the job, I have never used a torque wrench in my life, just always cranked it till it felt "about right"

Just Bought a new Trd off road Access cab and want to lift using OME kit found at toytec http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/OME-Tacoma-Suspension-lift-kit_p_231.html I'm just wondering how badly i need UCA's??? Because there is also this kit http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/Bilstein-Adjustable-lift-kit-with-5100-shocks_p_132.html that is adjustable, and i've read that if i go higher than 2.5" with the lift its better to have UCA's?

 

Just make sure you torque the u-bolts evenly. Hand thread them all evenly, then make 1/4 turns at a time per bolt going from top left to bottom right to bottom left to top right. If you don't you can stretch/warp/break your u-bolts. Ask me how I know

I think everything else is pretty straightforward to torque, just apply even steady pressure til it goes 'click'

 

Good to know I should be installing my springs tomorrow and had heard to tighten the U bolts evenly.

Just to clarify when you say the top do you mean the front of the vehicle or the top when looking at it from the side?

 

Either one works as long as you keep the same pattern throughout. Start on whichever one you want, just keep that first bolt in the top left perspective.
