I was confused on this too, but I'm just going to mark everything near that LCA adjustment area to be safe,

Iron man springs don't compress enough. The whole truck is moving when I jack the new springs up...

So a little update-couple of things baffled me while trying to install.

I got the lower ball joint lined up to the steering knuckle and able to bolt the. Together but the shock was a good 6 inches from the top plate. Didn't make sense to me. I then deduced to put my stock suspension back on and it was incredibly easy using this method.

Do you think my shocks are too short? That's the only solution I could think of.

You did take the shipping clamp off the shock, right?

Went out and looked. No shipping clamp anywhere to be seen. They measure 21 inches from end to end. Now I need to find the stock shock measurements.

Are you sure you have the spring perches on right side up? The perches should "hang down" over the circlip, look like a bell, not an upside down bell.
My springs where about level with the top of the shock shaft, little under I think. Hope this helps gb42.

So it turns out I am a fucking moron. Because I purchased the foam cell shocks they come fully compressed and I had to go out and decompress them by hand. That was the first and hopefully only time a yell fuck you at a shock.

I'm not sure if this has been asked but is there a torque spec for the top nut that goes to the shock? If so, how do you keep the rod from spinning on you while you crank on it?

Couldn't tell you the torque but there's an Allen head hole on the end to hold the shaft. I normally just tighten till the rubber grommets are compressed

In the video at 5:08 I mention you may have to put a wrench on the top of the top of the shaft to keep it from turning. There is a flat part at the top on 5100 shocks.

The torque for that nut is 20 ft/lbs.

I plan on putting 1/4" spacers on top of my plates with 5100s at 1.75", my question is can I remove the old strut and coil like in video, then remove top hat, put in spacer, put top hat back in, then put in 5100s with coils?

What is the best way to adjust the clips to the higher settings on the front shocks. I'm having trouble moving that clip to the 1.75 setting. Anyone know a trick to this?

yes, the way in the vid you can take everything apart and re-install. you'll definitely need an alignment and the ride will be much stiffer if using stock coils

when i moved mine i used needle nose pliers to get the ring partially out of the groove, then just twisted the shock body while holding the clip still to remove it from the track. repeat a few times and you'll be at the 3rd setting. just be careful not to break the clip...

Alright, thanks, I know it'll be relatively stiffer, but not too bad, I'm getting about 2.25" lift without preloading coils too much

Installed ironman front using this method today.

The only Problem is trying to torque to top bolt. How did you all do that?

I could not get a torque wrench in there. But 20 ft /lbs is not much. I just tightened until the rubber bushing started to squish a little. The 5100s have a nyloc nut so it won't come loose.
