This weather needs to get warmer so I can finish painting my stuff. Anyone ever clearcoat bedliner? I want the texture of bedliner for grip on my sliders but bedliner tends to look matte and fade to like a grey so I wonder if a clear coat will give them a deep black shiny luster. This is only for the top/sides I really don't give a fuck how the bottom looks since I will always be touching them up after use.

 

I did buy a single strip of tape that I was going to use but the previous owner of the sliders had it and it looked like ass. He did have it over 80% of the slider which I thought was dumb. Maybe I'll just topcoat the POR with some semi-gloss black. I love the way it looks that way so that will keep it that way.

 

What about putting some sand in the topcoat?

 

What about just being careful when you stand on them? Even when mine are caked full of snow and ice I've never felt they were any more dangerous than normal.. Plus the amount of time you'll use them as steps is like 1% of the time. Mostly you'll just be stepping right past them.

 

I usually step right over them, except now since I had the surgery stretching the left leg kind of hurts. The only problem I have is over time after rubbing my pants across them the paint tends to wear off, but I also wore the paint off the door sill and rocker doing the same thing before the sliders.

 

You must get dirt and road salt and stuff all over your pants!

 

It's mostly for the lil lady. She's short and I can see her using them as steps.

I put about a foot long by two inch wide strip of grip tape by each door and on the kickouts to use as a step to get in the bed. It don't look Half bad and it works very well even when muddy. I usually just step right passed the sliders but short people use them like steps every time. I'll throw a picture on here later if anyone is intrested.

 

Try having sliders that come straight out with no angle keeping them close.
