I've been thinking about this mod today too lol. I found a guy parting out a 91 Runner on CL and he told me $20...
$150 for a 13-year old factory rack is a little pricey

Try a junkyard if you have one. My local Pick a Part never has Tacomas but it has a ton of 4Runners

    Hello, see this:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...abs-3inch-lift-265-75-16-a-4.html#post8255798

There are 2 different sizes on the 4Runners... the one i located at a junkyard was 48", so i had to cut it to fit, but they have ones that are 3' long and that size will fit without any trimming..

Here is what i followed for my install:

Hope this helps.... I like the look.....:D

I paid $80 for it..... Check the junkyards, another way to know it is the correct length is by counting the cross bars. The one you want has only 3..

Start looking at 4Runners while you are driving... You will see 3 & 4 Tabs on top.... I enjoy the look and We had Heavy rains right after i installed, No Leaks! Good Luck..;)

It has a real Smooth Low Profile... Take a look.. BTW, i am on the list for Under Hood Lights, Those look great!

    Look at build!
If im not mistaken I started all of this witht he factory T4R tracks.. I have an ext cab, the tracks will just have to be shortened.. Higherlux did it after I did to his ext cab and I put one on a DC.. Its not hard, a couple hours worth of work. I also made some crossbars of my own to mimick Yakima that the 4Runner guys are wanting me to start making.. they hold a ton more weight than the stock plastic ones and use the factory tie down knobs, just slide the cross bars into the track with the star knob and tighten wherever you want it. There are pics HERE
