Welcome. I don't get on here much lately, but keep up with posts on this thread so I don't miss anything in the state. I don't get out wheeling nearly enough anymore!

Haha, yeah 45acp I live with it daily.

Theres not to my knowledge much in the way of off-roading apart from the occasional farm field. But me and some buddies are going to take a trip to The badlands this spring, that should at least give a little fun.

I have been researching like crazy to find out if the Pipeline (Forest Service Road #55552) will be open this august. From what I have so far it is going to close 3/14 :( Any of you guys got any more info or could check for me?

Here's my post from past research. The link in regards to closures seems to be updated somewhat often and has the gov link for the most up-to-date trail info.

Just thought i'd mention that our club will be hosting the, like, 357th annual Open House event at the Iron Range Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area near Gilbert MN on Saturday May 17th 2014.

Pretty much same layout as last year. Free lunch for participants, guided trail runs, friendly people. COME OUT AND WHEEL.

Check out our terribly out-dated website here: http://nsw4x4.com

We're working on getting the info updated for 2014 but the gist is the same, only the date has changed.

Sorry, but that's the weekend the state reserves as the 'free access' weekend to the park. Meaning, you don't need a MN OHV sticker (~$38 for 3-years)

If any other midwestern-ers want to make a different weekend of the park later in the year, our club is happy to oblige/lead runs. It just won't be as big of a party :)

So I found out that there is a place near LaCross called Apple Valley Farms Offroad Park, maintained by a group called Real Performance Machines 4x4 (RPM 4x4). They are holding a couple public events that we should deffinately go to! They are June 14-15, 2014 & July 26-27, 2014. I called and they said they have trails for all rigs. What say yee!!!

I've been to AVF twice. Once in the winter and once in the summer for their public runs.

It's a good time, price is i think 40 or 50$ for the weekend and the bulk of the trails are built for (or have become) big v8's on taller tires than you'll run on a Toyota. Lots of sand/loose material, rutted runs that require lots of clearance.

Definitely worth checking out once or twice, and there's plenty of good times to be had, just don't expect the trails to be technical/crawlers - it's more about the skinny pedal there.
