Those are great points, and some of your height posts on here make it seem like the rack curves with the roof. Is there a way to make it flat from one end to the other?

The top of the rack is completely flat the top of the rails are flat. The bottom of the rails are what curve and follow the lines of the truck.

Oh that is great to know, soldier proof as long as I don't install it up side down. Thank you very much for that.

Ok here are a few pics of my rack powder coated and installed. It's just in my driveway so don't expect some epic pics with the sunset in the background in Moab or anything like that.

I still haven't done mine. Too much other stuff going on to work on the little things, but I know Goose8651 used a large gauge hole punch to do his.

I used a hole saw. It wasn't pretty! There is a thin piece of metal that runs down the middle of the weather stripping. The punch might be the way to go.

Yep, I used a 3/4" punch. Took a little bit of time to punch through the strip, but got it done. If you go this route, start punching from the underside and work your way to to "shown"portion of the molding. Makes the cut cleaner. Need to be spot on though when punching.

Sharp looking setup up! As long as you'll use it, we'll use our imagination.

Homer, care to share a close up of your awning mount on Zach's rack? We've got a Foxwing we'll be mounting to it.

I posted this over in my build thread but figured I would throw it up here too because there is some insight about the racks that may be of interest to you guys. Life has been a little crazy lately but we had to go south to sign lease papers for our new apartment and I decided we needed to get out for a quick trip. Thanks to directions from BoxRocket we made a quick one night trip out to the Whiterocks area in Skull Valley. I really enjoyed it. There were quite a few people out there which I was surprised with but our little boy loved it and it was great to relieve some stress even though it was short.

The racks performed great. This is the first time we have slept overnight in the RTT on the topper and there is no doubt in my mind it can handle it. Of course the toppers will get fatigued over time but I am not worried for the time being. My boy was bouncing all over in the tent and running back and forth to the windows crawling across mom and dad. I never heard any creaking or cracking and did a thorough inspection afterwards to look for stress cracks and such. There was no sign. We also bounced around pretty good on some of the rocky trails and played in the sand a bit and the tent never moved. The toprac stayed put very well in the thule tracks and didn't come loose in any places when I checked it. I also averaged 17MPG on the trip with the RTT, traction ramps, and a pelican case with recovery gear mounted up there so I am extremely happy with that as well.
