I was away on vacation most of last week. Tonight I will be able work on the truck and I'll let you know how goes after.

 

You have to loosen the 4 hub bolts and then work the assembly off of the spindle until you can back the 4 bolts completely out of the spindle and remove the assembly. It's not as difficult as it seems.

 

I backed out all four hub bolts all the way and then went around the outside of the hub and tapped on it from the back with a hammer. Then you back out the bolts a little more, rap on it all the way around trying to get it to move out, and repeat. Not hard.

Torch wise I just used my propane torch. It was enough heat (just took a couple minutes). Heat and PB Blaster were imperative to get the caliper bolts off. Other bolts were easy.

DIY Hub & CV axle replacement

 

Here are a pair of hubs I built for a customer that wanted more thread engagement using acorn style lugs. I installed 1/4" longer studs which worked out great for their requirement

 

So does that change the hub from being hub-centric to lug-centric?

 

it is still hub centric. the wheel sits the same on the hub it just allows for more thread engagement. people with wheel spacers opt for the longer studs for the same reason.

I swapped out my front driver side hub assembly (189k) last night and everything went perfect. Your assembly arrived on time last week and it took me less than an hour to swap, and that was taking my time. Put my first 50 miles on it this morning going to work. It's nice not hearing that bearing any more! I'll be back again if I need another and will definitely recommend you.

NJ636, did you get my arp studs to build my hubs with? I sent everything out a week ago or so.

Replaced my assembly yesterday afternoon... Everything went great! NJ636 got the parts to me fast,!! Thanks again ill get another one when the passenger side gives out.

 

What type of spacer would you use with those long studs?.... I thought companies like Spidertrax and such only made spacers that were offset for use with factory studs.

I was asked to install the supplied studs, I'm not sure what the plan is with them. He said he wanted to use the ARP's for their strength & durability. They could always be cut to the proper length if they are too long.
