Necessary things for basic beach offroading

Just got my beach premit for offroading near my parts (east end long island). I have yet to take the truck off the road so I want to be prepared in case I get stuck, or another vehicle gets stuck as well and needs assistance. I was thinking of purchasing the following receiver hitch, pin, recovery strap and deflator from harbor freight tools. I will probably only go offroading on the beach maybe six times this year. Any input is appreciated.

How far from the beach to where you can air your tires back up? Might be worth investing in a compressor as well.

 

all you have ready to order seems like good recovery bag. but you will need an air compressor to re inflate your tires. not sure how desolate the areas you will be going to are but you may find these interesting

ARB tire deflator on Amazon is $39.95. You may also look into some portable traction, whether it be the specially made abs plastic ones, or a set of deck boards with some no skid attached to them. Also a shovel is extremely helpful, along with a hi lift jack.

 

Block of wood ( i think 12x12) and fire extinguisher.

 

I have that shackle from harnor freight. I have never had to use it. Small shovel and some mats.......... Mats are for if you are really worried anout getting stuck. I take someone along with me sometimes in case a push is needed. These trucks are fairly light. Airing down would be the main thinv.

There is a fill station right before you enter the beach, after that, nada. Will probably look into the compressor too.

All the other stuff, shovel, board, will get those too.

I have a Craftsman 12v compressor that I got for $40, I think normal price was $50 or $60, but it works good. Aired my 33's from 15#'s to 35#'s in about 3 minites

 

What a difference airing down makes.

 

That's what I do down here. I have yet to get stuck but if I venture a little deeper I know my luck will change

 

Its not fun unless you push to the limit

One thing to consider, if you buy cheap recovery gear it could let you down when you need it most, that cheap receiver hitch would scare me.
Maybe get an extra hitch pin, I also have a bag to put everything in.
What is the rating(Working Load Limit) on the receiver hitch?
That thing looks like a cheap POS, what not trust my truck or life on it.

Mack sure if you use that snatch strap you put some sort of dampener on it, blanket, coat, etc. It could keep a cable or strap that breaks under stress from punching a hole in your truck or your head.
Just imagine that receiver hitch breaking loose under stress, that thing would become a rocket.

I have everything you have plus I take a shovel, shackles, large bucket, I also have a tree trunk protector ( can also be used as a recovery point equalizer strap).

Attach tree trunk protector to your two front recovery points then with a shackle attach cable or snatch strap to it.
This will keep an equal load on you frame.
Also what others have mentioned.
The bucket can be used to pour water around your tires, wet sand is harder that dry sand.
