Picked her up this weekend, I must say Bobby provides the most incredible service I have ever had in my life. Its a smallish shop run by him and the wife and SO MANY ORDERS. The man is a machine, we showed up at his door around 8pm on a Friday and there he was most of the lights out working his ass off inside. He was about ready to head home to the family and instead took the extra time to show us where to grab a bite to eat, pointed us in the direction of a "Growler Station" (never knew what they were before him).

Hands down the best service ever, the attitude and passion Bobby has is the same as ours and he's here to help us all out. In time we will all have tents and will be just as happy as every one of his customers!

Used it the same night i picked it up on the drive back home, rained and I stayed nice and dry!

I got my Mt. Shasta today from the GB!!! I'm pretty psyched about that but ran into my first potential issue. I put the rails and the ladder on the tent and then lifted the tent onto my OEM rack on the cab of my Tacoma and the bolts that came with the sliders that fit into the rail are so long that it's difficult to get the nut onto them and after you tighten them down, several of them have almost ZERO clearance between the end of the bolt and the roof of the truck. Given that Toyota already claims ridiculously low weight limits for the roof rack, I don't even want to risk climbing up into that tent for fear that the bolts will scratch and/or dent the roof of the truck.

As I see it, I have several options. The simplest would be to go buy bolts that are 1/4" or more shorter than the ones that came with the tent and I believe they'd work fine but I'd STILL be nervous about a load in the tent causing the roof rack to relax enough for the bolts to dent/scratch the truck.

The second option would be to take the cap off of my truck and install a rack system in the bed.

The third would be to install a Yakima or Thule rack system on my ARE cap.

The last, and probably the best fix would be to think of a better way to tighten those rails down to my OEM roof rack, possibly with a system where the bolt goes up into the rails somehow. I'm not an engineer and I'm not terribly handy with tools, I'm just curious if anyone has any suggestions or photos of how they made it work with an OEM roof rack.

Thanks for the idea Baby Taco but personally I don't care for it. I want something that can sit up there most or all of the time without killing gas mileage and without looking too out of place. Like I said, it looks like an awesome rack system functionally but personally, I don't care for the aesthetics of it, not to mention that I'd really like to be able to do this without spending considerable money (considering that I already purchased the RTT and the OEM rack system).

I'm sure this will be my first and short term fix, then I'll have to decide whether I like the RTT up on the cab anyway.

Got the new bolts today (I figured that it wasn't worth the $10 minutes messing around with them to save the $3 that the new ones cost. I'll re-purpose the ones that came with the CVT. It's raining now so I can't get it set up but I can't wait to see it set up on my rig and can't wait to use it. I'm really happy about this Group Buy.

Here are a few from last weekend. Mt. Shasta mounted on my Leer Cap. I'd like to find a way to mount it directly to the rails mounted to the cap instead of the Thule cross bars.

I learned a couple lessons. Thread the annex into the track before opening up the tent. Don't install the spring bars for the windows until you zip up the annex and it was a lot easier zipping up the floor from the outside. When I tried from the inside, the zipper kept getting caught on the material on the outside.

Also, I did notice a couple times when getting into the tent, when I moved to the middle, there was a pop and it felt like the cantilevered part of the tent move a bit. Happened a couple times. Any ideas?

before you get in the tent take a peek at both ends of the hinged joint to make sure that the tongue and groove joint is seated properly. if not then kick the ladder out, grab on to the corner of the tent and pull down/push back until the two halves slide together.

What she said, with the brand new tents im told they tend to bow out a tad when shipped so in time that will be easier and will require less effort. As is it only takes a couple seconds to line it up and slide it in.

no problem, happens to mine too occasionally.

mine was really bad when I set it up for the first time this year (after having stored it all winter) but it seems to be correcting itself.

It's been raining here for two days. I'm hopeful to get it set up in my backyard tomorrow and I'll post a picture (I have a nice view from my backyard so it will probably look like I'm camping in the mountains).
