    Bone stock. For now.
Copied and pasted from a thread I created. Thought I might get some more feedback in here.

I noticed over the weekend that my dome light was out, or so I thought. So today I put in a new one (with the truck running) and notice that it turns off when I turn the key all the way to the off position. So I flick the key back on to ACC and the light comes back on. I check the map lights, and they do the same thing.

So far all I've done is a rudimentary check of some fuses, though that seemed pointless because they are obviously getting power, just not all the time. Other than that I'm not really sure what to check. I searched around the forum and I see there's a connection behind the driver kick panel that I may check.

    Any other ideas?

I usually stick in the LT thread. This thread is too busy to keep up with, just don't have the time. I drop in here and troll every now and then, though.

Do they stay on when you switch to ACC? Almost sounds like a short between the accessory lighting hot and the ignition hot.

I would look under the dash between the steering column and kick panel and try to find the shorted wire. Sounds like the ignition is now powering the lights.

Yep does happen ask me how I know:( Really sucks when you're on a ttrail and it happens, luckily for me I wasn't alone and all it did was scar up the radiator and overheat. I was able to drive some 50 miles to fix it, could have been much worse as you say.

Transmission fluid was changed 30,000 miles ago as well as belts and hoses.

    My fluids are fine haha

It's the cv's, inner seals, LBJ's, and carrier bearing that needs changing.

Get on it! Do you have to disassemble the driveshaft on the tacoma to change C/B? (older chevys you do) Do the BJ's and CV's at the same time since its already apart...inner seal thats not very specific lol

Kind of, you just have to un-bolt the front driveshaft from the flange. You also have to press out the old bearing.

Inner seals for the cv's haha

Doubt I'll do the carrier bearing myself.

As for the cv's and LBJ's, the cv's are going to cost a bit more than I want to spend right now so I'm waiting for that right now.

Still haven't been paid back for my Vegas TDY and just went home recently, so money is tight.
