I got a bit confused and probably did the same thing you did at first. I made a slight change to the original post that may help you...

    1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.
    2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened
    3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob (with the display on ODO) and do a long 12 second count.
    4) After about 12 seconds and with the trip reset knob still depressed - Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time release the trip reset knob and then press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.

Does this also take care of the passenger seat seatbelt warning chime?

    TIA

nice! I was just about to do the same thing. I picked up some circuit breakers for an in cab inverter, the fuse block, and a stereo and I plan on mounting those to the same plate as the fuse block.

I did the buzz off on my '09, my observations:
It chimes once when you start the vehicle. It never chimes any more for either seat while the vehicle is running.
This only effects the chime. The seat belt warning symbols still flash.
Sometimes I put an item of weight on the passenger seat and the symbol flashes away, of course.
