If there's no play in the CV, just get new boots.
SDHQ sells a new inner boot kit to address the lack of movement in the factory boots.

I appreciate it man, I'll probably be picking up a set of those, might also do the all pro ones just to test for myself which ones actually help more. Since I'll have 2 new ones I have plenty to test with...

Just making sure, you know the AP boots are for the outers right?
Outers are kind of a bitch. You are to remove the tripod off the inner CV to get to the outers.

You'd pull the CV axle and replace an inner boot without also replacing the outer boot at the same time??

Depends on the situation. I've ripped brand new inner boots on my Tundra axles within a week of installing them. Certainly no need to replace the outer for a shortcoming of the inner.
CV's are second nature to me at this point and I can change out a set in 30 minutes. I didn't have the bad experience you did. :D

Gabe is always stocked, even during the "great scare of 2012" he was stocked. I've bought 10 of my firearms from him, great guy, just don't ask dumb questions or you may end up in a rant on his Facebook.

Yeah. I figure why go knuckles deep when I could be balls deep and finish the job and have an excellent set of trail spairs.

You can also use the torque app. I use mine mostly for temps and mpg. It's also a scan tool if you have check engine light.

Took my mom and sister out champagne tasting and wine-roading, just backroads in Sonoma County... was pretty fun, especially nearly spraying my mom with mud when we went through a big mudhole with the windows open and a truckbed with 5 and a half cases of champagne
    [IMG]
one of the puddles, were multiple small creek crossings
    [IMG]
Spent $700 on Champagne, and that's at 40% off... so roughly 1200 worth of champagne

i love the torque app. use it often to data log and track progress on certain mods, not to mention the CEL clearing for friends.
