You're right! 1/4 drive ratchet and 1/2" deep socket in center console organizer. About 60 seconds to remove 4 nuts. So far, it works for me!

 

Why not use wingnuts so you don't have to have a tool to take the Hi-Lift off? I understand security, but a thief will be able to steal that with hex nuts or wing nuts, regardless.

Just ordered up a Switchback LED kit for my DTRLs/blinkers from Jumper's LEDs. Now I play the waiting game. Haha.

I wouldn't suggest it. Unless you were to add a backing plate to distribute the weight over more surface area (something like a fender washer) and use a ratchet strap. A bungee isn't meant to secure a 5 gallon fuel/water jug.

Put a can on each side and you don't think the metal bracket that backs the cubby / plug is as good or better than a fender washer cause I do

 

Mine looks like it's held in by only rivnuts. In that case, anything is better.

I just went out and took mine apart, the rivnuts are held in place by a thin strip of metal that connects two at a time, not all the way around. It might be sufficient. Though, I sure as heck wouldn't trust a bungee cord to hold it.

I already said I would use a strap in my response in live , but even at that I'm not too concerned with the bungee , I drove around for about a year with a full Scepter strapped to two of the bed cleats with a bungee , zero issues

 

It was on there for probably 3 years. It's was time to redo it and since I liked it I went a more permeant route this time.
