I don't mean to be a Debbie downer, but I am so tired of the blacked out, Plasti-dip everything look. IMO opinion, nothing makes a $30K truck look like a $5K truck faster than plasti-dip.

I also hate having any chrome on my truck as well, but love a nice machined wheel, or the brushed steel look. There are too little machined looking wheels on the market. Everything is either blacked out, or max-chromed out.

I couldn't agree more, on all counts.

Can't stand plasti-dip, and don't understand the appeal of it.

Also a big fan of machined wheels. I had a JK Wrangler before the Tacoma, and when I lifted it I put on Method Standard wheels in machined finish. That was partly because I liked them, but also in part because they were available machined.

I used to think I was the only guy on Jeepforum that bought new wheels in a color other than black.

If / when I buy new wheels for my (black) Tacoma, they won't be black.

My dakota had black wheels.I liked the fact they were always black. Not kinda shiny, tarnished, dulled, or full of brake dust.

It's not Debbie Downer it's just your opinion. Nothing wrong with that.

I think it depends on "what" you plasti dip that makes or breaks a truck. Anything can be over used.

Again... valid opinion. The appeal of it (at least for me) is that you can test on something and see if you like the look. If you don't it isn't permanent. That has a lot of appeal and is quite useful. That said, the only things on my truck that are plasti dipped are my emblems.

As far as the wheels go I personally like black rims but I understand that they are about to be over played just like the fucking "spinners" were years back. If I were to buy a new set now I think I would go with Bronze. I like the machined look also but I can't stand anything that even comes close to resembling chrome.

    Badges Plasti Dipped

Using Plasti-Dip to test the look of something in black makes sense. It just seems to me that more often than not, people are using it in place of paint / powdercoat as a permanent finish. That's what makes no sense to me.

Also, if my truck were white like yours, I'd consider black wheels. My truck is black, which is the color I like black wheels on the least. Funny you mentioned bronze.....If I bought new wheels today, it would probably be the TRD fake beadlocks in bronze.

..and only slightly better than greenlee. Haha. But what do you guys think about leaving an outter ring of bare aluminum showing?

Kinda like a beauty ring or faux rim lock.
