I did a search and didn't see anything, so I thought I'd check. Is there a way to change the default unlock so that with one push on the key fob thing it unlocks all of the doors, rather than just the driver's door. I know I can push it twice and unlock them all, I just thought it would be convenient if I could do that every time with just one push on the button. Luxury problem, I know, but I thought I'd check...

Unfortunately for you, there has been a lot of people who asked about this option. But I don't think anyone has figured out how to, or if its even possible.

it is possible on a lot of toyotas via techstream (most of them incl Yaris) but I am not clear about Tacoma. it should be doable as about everything else they make can be done that way

I had a Crimestoppers Remote start/Alarm system installed. Added benefit? All doors unlock with one click as well.

I tried that and it didn't work. It did do something else though. It started an automatic locking program. If you exit the vehicle, and don't lock it, it will automatically lock it after about 10 to 15 seconds. I got it back to normal after doing the procedure again and hitting the lock button twice. I usually don't have a problem remembering to lock the truck.

Can the dealer change the default?

That would be a bad feature to have IMO. Dont set your keys down for a second and close your door , not thinking.

MY FJ would lock all the doors itself if you did'nt use it in 5 or so minutes, but not unlock them all at once.

I wouldn't mind 5 mins, but 10-15 seconds is just asking for trouble.

On my 2005 I purchased a couple of remotes online, and programmed them per the instructions. One thing that I did notice was that if I unlock the truck using the remote, with the anticipation of opening the door, but do not open the door, the truck will auto-lock in 15 seconds. I found this out by going to the lumber yard. I approached the truck thinking I would put the receipt on the seat of the truck and I pressed the unlock button. I decided to just shove the receipt in my pocket and load the lumber. When I went to open the door, it was locked. My keys were in my pocket so I pushed the unlock button again and heard the door unlock. I went about tying the lumber on and I heard the truck go into auto-lock. I think this is a pretty good feature for those times when you may accidentally unlock the truck but do not enter it. My unlock is not on my key, but on a key fob. The range is only about 15 feet, however. I'd like to be able to extend that. Anyone have any ideas on how to increase the range of the remote lock? Those that have auto start seem to be able to have about 50 feet of range from what I understand.

I have a Camry and it will unlock but if you do not enter the car within an allotted time it will lock the doors again.

It will not lock with the fob inside.I dunno how it knows that its inside the car but it will not lock the doors with the fob inside. It can be in the ignition or on the seat, floor, etc.

Techstream would probrably be the only way besides dealer to change or delete certain functions.

The dealer programmed my remote and with 1 click all doors unlocked and 1 click all doors also lock but it also has an alarm installed not sure if that has anything to do with it.
