I'm back in action!... I thought I'd be down and out a lot longer, but I poked around on it a bit after work all last week and got it back together and fired up Saturday night at about 11. New front and rear crank seals, resealed the oil pump and pan, new head gaskets, head bolts, cam seals, intake manifold gasket, and valve cover gaskets. Also welded up a front diff mount that I was able to get to from above, and welded a broken motor mount I got from the Tahuya trip. I drove to Tacoma and back yesterday with no issues at all. No more bubbles in the coolant and over flowing coolant catch tank, temp gauge doesn't drop when I hit the gas, and no more oil leaks. I was impressed with the quality of the head gasket I pulled out of it, it was ready to fail even when it was new.

I want to do the exhaust re-route mod and looking for shops close to Issaquah. Can a Midas shop do it properly? I'm also looking at Issaquah Muffler and Brake, and Excel Automotive.

any suggestions for me? Isn't this a simple job for them?

^^^Dan Fast in Bellevue did mine. It sounds simple enough I agree. Cost me ~$150 but I'm happy with the work done:

Lol. I think I was hoping for the skid plate to smash down the gravel into something I could traverse.

I get into the most trouble when I look for it though, which I suppose I was in this case.

I do... the gasket and seal kit Gig Harbor Enginehaus uses on their motors is garbage. After 20k miles every seal was leaking, and the head gasket was blown. Complete kit on ebay is like $85, compared to a fel-pro kit which is $400+... the head gasket they use in the kit is the old style graphite one, factory Toyota is a MLS gasket, which is much better. I can only hope they used quality bearings. My fingers are crossed.

One of my good friends has finally been converted.. he picked up his first Tacoma yesterday. He traded in his STi for a 2014 TRD Offroad. I'm pretty pumped for him! Its a nice truck! Almost to nice to even get it dirty.
