I have a 2011 Toyota tacoma Pre runner 4.0. I have the toytec 3 in bilstein and ebach coils. I am in the middle of putting my spindles on and I am having some problems. first, I had bad tie rod ends, so I ordered then and they won't be here until Thursday. Next, the bilsteins are on the highest setting in the front, so I took them to local shops, and the guy put 200 psi on his coil compressor and the coil didn't budge, so now i can't put my shocks on with my spindles because they are way too tight for some reason (I've been working with cars for a while and by far the stiffest coil spring I've ever seen). The shocks are so stiff that I put all the weight of the truck on the lower control arm, and it only went up about a inch. That doesn't seem right does it? So I'm scared to even put it back together, what should my next step be?

    Thanks in advance,
    Brett Akins

And if I put the shocks from the highest setting(where they are now) down to the 0 setting, will it losses them up at all?

So the bilsteins are on the highest setting with the eibach coil??? That's your issue. With the eibach the billies should be no higher than the 2nd notch. That 620# eibach coil is so tightly compressed that the shock is also maxed out which is why it hardly moves even with the weight of the truck.

Once you get those coils disassembled set the C clip on the billies down to the lowest setting or 2nd setting at most. Be careful when decompressing the coil from the shock. There is a crap ton of preload on that coil right now so lots of dangerous stored energy that could cause damage. I'd recommend using the weight of the truck to decompress the coil by jacking up the lower control arm and compressing the coil/ shock just a little. Then, loosen and take off the center nut and SLOWLY lower the jack. It will release the compressed coil and allow you to remove it with out having to use spring compressors. Or have a shop with a wall spring compressor disassemble them.

As for removing the bolt that holds the shock to the LCA, maybe try to get some extra leverage with a cheater bar and a long pipe to fit over the cheater bar.

Yeah, Everything is seated correctly. But if the issue is because the shocks are on the highest setting with these coils, Why does Toytec ship them assembled this way?? But I've been wanted to set them down for a while now, I guess thats todays task, Thanks for the help, Ill post an update later on today

 They should know not to assemble them at the highest notch with eibach springs.

Whoever put those coils on the bilsteins on the highest setting should not be doing that type of work. Other than the coils being way too stiff if preloaded, there's also too much lift. The bilsteins set on the top clip is supposed to yield roughly 2.5" of lift and the coils by themselves give roughly 1.6" of lift. So your sitting at about 4"s of lift. If your a 4x4 then that's way too much for those CV's. Even if your a prerunner that's still too much of an angle/ stress on the suspension parts like control arms, and ball joints.

It ships from Toytec like that, I'm about to call them and figure something out. That is dangerous!

Update* I have taken the coil springs to 5 differant shops in Augusta, Ga and no one can compress these coil springs, I have recently found out, they are not on the highest setting, but the next to last, which is still too high. Anyone ever heard of this problem? And I also have called toytec 3 different times and all 3 times it was a different person and made me email them pictures and haven't heard a word back from any of them. Any suggestions on what to do next?

So is it set on the .85 or 1.75?

.85 would be ok for 2nd gens but 1.75 is too much preload.

Update* So the shocks were set on 1.75. I FINALLY got someone who could compress them for me. So they are now set at 0. So now she is back on the road!

And how big of a carrier bearing drop should I need? I raised the rear end 2.75 (dakar springs) and the 4 in spindle in the front. I'm thinking 3/4 of an inch? What do y'all think?
