I was looking for an all in one solution that didn't require a ton of wires going through the firewall. I only have a thin ribbon cable that connects to the switch panel, everything else is connected to the relay panel.

That solution I alluded to previously will have even less wires. Stay tuned. :D

Is that a small pelican case? Would you mind sharing details of the relay box setup? I need to add a bunch of relays, fuses and remote mount my winch solinoid/contactor)

Here's my Warn 9.5 xp-s with a hidden winch mount that I fabricated:

Cutting the trim was kind of a hack job but it looks OK from a distance:

I cut off the studs that held the aluminum crush piece so I could reinforce everything and use grade 8 bolts. I bolted a long piece of 1/4" steel to the inside of the frame and some angle pieces on the outside.
Not real pretty but the TIG welds look decent and I think it's strong enough.

Got stuck a few days ago and had to use the winch for the first time. Me and the old lady went up in the hills near the Umpqua river and I tried to keep two wheels on dirt instead of going straight through a patch of snow, bad idea. The little exposed part of the road was too wet and unstable and we started sliding off the edge. It doesn't look that bad in the picture, but what a bad feeling when you start thinking about the worst case scenario. We tried winching forward but the only available tree didn't give us enough angle to pull back onto the road and the truck just slid down the slope even more. I was getting pretty worried by then and didn't want to take any pictures. So I decided to hook up to a tree about 90 degrees to my left and just get it turned all the way around. By this time it was about 4:30 p.m. and we just wanted to go home.

    Almost done:

I probably wouldn't have even tried going through the snow without a winch, but it just paid for itself on this little adventure. The lesson I learned is that it probably would have been much easier to just plan to winch straight through the snow and stay on the road instead of trying to drive close to a slope.

I need a fuse or breaker to wire inline with my winch. Anyone have any suggestions?

I chose to run without a circuit breaker. I am using a quick disconnect so that the winch is only seeing the battery when I need it.

Your winch manufacturer should be able to recommend the correct amperage of circuit breaker if you choose to run one. My superwinch came with this style of breaker, but I chose not to use it.

Sub'd. Trying to figure out if I should fork out for the 9.5xp or if that's overkill and I can save money and go with something else.
