Haven't posted here in a long time, but I've been following the thread and awesome pics posted. I had some spare time this weekend and went to an old lighthouse and took some photos... got me thinking that I haven't been using my cameras as much as I would like, I might just sell the D7100 and keep my old K-5 for when I occasionally do some shooting... if anyone might be interested let me know...

Really good stuff lately! Ben, have you tried tweaking the white balance of 4638 to warm it up a little? Looks a tad blue. Then again I think I warm my stuff up too much most of the time. Great shots regardless.
Usually when I am out wheeling I dont stop and get enough pictures. I am hoping this weekend to get a ton of our trip. If so, hopefully I can dump in here next week.

Awesome shots Ben. I have looked at those several times now in different threads. Your shots have improved drastically since your first few pictures I saw in the epic thread.

Awesome Job Ben! Or X4 or 5 LOL....

There is a group of upland hunters that get together each year from a different forum. For 3 days we shoot sporting clays, run dogs if we bring them and make plans for the fall. We are die hard bird hunters that live mainly for the dogs and not bag limits. Most of us wear duct taped Filson or Carharts, which says to the Orvis crowd no need to apply for membership.

This year we got together at Wild Wings in East Central Wi. and it is a great facility. BigJohnSD rode his bike from Spearfish SD to a sportsman club near my place on Thursday, 680 miles. We shot 50 rounds of Sporting with a couple of other friends in common then in the morning drove the 5 hours to Wild Wings and shot the rest of the weekend. I end up cooking, I like to eat and eat well so picked up that job first get together and been stuck with it ever since.

ANF Grousin (Allegheny National Forrest) came out from Pa. and brought 6 pounds of his homemade belly bacon and 2 pounds of jowl bacon. He is welcome to come out each and every year!

Wild Wings let us stay in the lodge for free. We already made reservations for next year. Their interior decorator did a great job pretty sure it was a man :D

    Station #1 at sunrise
    [IMG]

ANF showing us that he can shoot, even if his barrels are all jacked up and sit SideXSide instead of Over Under.

BHS61 is in his 70's and was high gun shooting 3/4 oz. lead in a 28 ga. He gave us all a schooling, wasn't hard to get a picture of him breaking a clay. This crossing shot was a screamer and I managed to catch the bird just as the shot string hit the rim.

Using the 300mm and tracking a clay in the woods and shadows was a bit harder than I thought it would be. But finally got a decent smoke ball shot
    [IMG]

Many of us will meet up again in a few months when seasons open. In Oct I will be hunting ruff grouse in the Mn. Arrowhead. First 2 weeks of Nov. pheasant in the Dakotas and Sharptails West of the Missouri River. Summer just got here but I can't wait till fall arrives.

Sounds like a great time! The broken clay shot is awesome because you got it.

Tracking with a long lens takes some practice. Both the lens hoods of mine have a thumb screw. I put the screw "up" and use it as a makeshift sight. If I can get the screw on target, it should be a quick tilt up to acquire the subject. Hope that helps!

That makes perfect sense Ian and think it would be easy enough to make a "makeshift" sight to do the same on my hood. Thanks!

Filson makes some really nice gear!

Y'all can come over to the island next to it and I'll build a house there. :woot:
