Double Cab Backseat

I have a 2007 Tacoma double cab. I'm working on planning my next build. Until now, I've been planning on removing the 40 seat from the 60/40 split and putting the sub and box there. The sub I have is way too big to fit behind the seats. I was wondering if there's a way to remove the bottom of the seat, and put the box under the seats, if that makes sense. Basically, I want to remove the compartments under the seat and use the space to put the sub (custom PSI 12 d2).

That won't really work unless you plan on cutting the living piss out of the metal floor of your truck, raising your seats, welding in recessed cavities to fill the holes made by cutting out the floor and get the air space you'd need, then effectively reinforcing your seat platform. Probably not worth the effort.

What is the depth of your sub woofer that leads you to believe it cannot be done behind the rear seats?

 

It has around a 6" mounting depth, but also has a pole vent.

This guy used the back wall as one side of his enclosure and was able to fit subs that were deeper than 6".

I'm not sure how much space you'll have left for your pole vent. The top of your magnet will probably be the limiting dimension (given how the sub will angled up a bit), so you should get some decent space behind the vent. Some guys have used washer/spacers/nuts to move their rear seat back latch forward. You can get some extra depth that way.

 

That helps a lot! I'll have to see if I have enough room for the excursion on the sub, because this sub has a somewhat high roll surround. I didn't realize how much room was back there.

There is a TON of room and frankly you should port that sub.
What amps are you using,
personally a really nice spot to fit them is underneath the front seats.
Each of my driver and passenger seat has 4kw under it

 

Definitely going to use a port. I had the sub built to handle 500-750 watts, and I'm pushing 500 watts to it now. Eventually going to upgrade to a sundown saz1500. This sub PUTS OUT. I can damn near get a hair trick with it off of 500 watts in my old f150, which is where the sub is now.
