On the way to work this morning, lots of flash flooding in the area I hit a street that normally doesn't have any flooding problems...until today. The back end was floating slightly I believe since the traction control light kept kicking on. I could tell the exhaust pipe was under water by the sound. I made it through the water and the truck drove fine the rest of the way to work. Anything I should be concerned about after that??? 2009 2wd access cab

I've had Jeep Cherokees in the water up to the center of the doors, you lose brakes for a bit, but they dry out. The diffs have breathers that are higher, so water shouldn't be an issue. My unprofessional opinion is that everything will dry out and be just fine.

It was maybe 25 yards tops that it was extremely deep. It ran for approximately 30 more minutes before I found an alternate route to make it to work. My brakes were almost non existent after the water but after maybe two blocks they were back to working properly.

The rear diff breather would have been underwater. Like someone else said before me , you should drain and refill the rear diff fluid, just to be sure there is no water in there. I would also wash the underside of your truck, to make sure no debris (if there was any in the water), isn't stuck to the underside.

If there are no unusual signs now only time will tell. That is a good way to cause damage to the CAT. They run very hot and sudden immerging in water can cause internal damage.

I'll have to check it all out once it dries out. The rear diff was what I was most worried about I assume it got submerged but it's hard to say. A person in a Chevy Lumina went through right before me so that's whey I didn't realize how bad it was till I was in it.

Yep... Like everyone else has said. Rear Diff is what I would be most concerned about. If you were in water that submerged the tailpipe then it most definitely submerged the rear diff. If you don't plan on making that a habit the the rear diff mod won't be necessary but if you do then it is a easy mod to do and you will never have to worry about it again.

I would definitely change the fluid in the rear diff though just to be safe.

How much (ball park) would I expect to pay to have the dealer change the diff fluid?

You can do it yourself. Easy as changing the oil in your truck. Probably easier.

Here they want $120 per diff at the stealership. Easy enough to do it yourself.

Yeah that does look pretty simple, I didn't realize ours had a drain plug. The only ones I have ever done you had to pull the cover, I would gladly pay to not make that mess in my driveway

I would check the rear diff.
I did the rear diff. mod on mine so I would not have to worry if I went into high water..

No. The only time that's required is when you have an LSD, but those only came stock in early TRD Sport trucks.
